Hi All - My daughter is just over 13 months old and she only has her 2 bottom teeth and the others are showing NO signs of errupting. Our Doc said not to worry, but of course, I am. I am not sure that I am looking for advice on what to do, I am just wondering if there are any other mama's out there with toothless babies!!! When did babies with "late" teeth finally get them?

Thanks!

What can I do next?

My son did not get his first tooth till he was over a year old. The Dentist said it is a good thing because the teeth are protected while on the bottle. You don't have to worry about having bad teeth from drinking from the bottle.

Both my daughter and son were late teethers. Both didn't get them until a yr of age. My son is 13 months now, and he is having a lot of trouble with Diarrhea and rash on cheeks...not so much in the pain area. Been givinf him Electrolytes. My daughter, however, was always in pain. Whining and moaning. It was horrible.

Thanks for posting! My son got his first two bottom teeth when he was 14 months old. He's not 16 months old with no more teeth in sight! Thanks for making me feel better about him not having teeth. I called our dentist today, and they thought I was a bit ridiculous! He'll get them!!! Sometimes we just need to be reassured. If it makes you feel better, he's not walking either!

We are in the exact same boat!!! My daughter is approaching 14 months and only has her two bottom teeth and no signs of the others coming in. I haven't seen the doctor about this yet, so I was relieved to see that this is not an uncommon situation. She is starting day-care next week and when I went to go and visit, all of the other infants have FULL sets of teeth!!!! My poor gummy baby. Like, the others said though, it's a good thing when it comes to tooth decay.... or there lack of.

I knew a little girl who didn't have any teeth at 15 months. But now she is two and she has a full mouth. No worries.

My son is 16 months, and just got one of his top teeth, and the other is starting to show. His bottom 2 teeth didn't come in until 2 months ago. My doctor said the wise tale is they will be stronger teeth since they came in later.

I hear your concern...my 22 month old has his front 4 teeth, 1 bottom front tooth ( and 1 mis-shaped tooth which may need to be pulled) and his 4 molars, BUT nothing else. Our dentist is going to do X-rays in about 2 months to see what's going on under his gums. He wanted to give it some time, but since his appointmnet in October nothing has changed. He didn't get his 1st tooth until he was 14 months. I'm worried he'll be missing adult teeth, but I guess that's what the X-Ray will be for so I'm trying not to worry too much about it. Good luck and you're not alone! :)

Don't worry..my son only had 4 teeth for the longest time. At 21 months he has finally cracked more teeth!! He just had a hard time eating more sophisticated foods until just a few weeks ago...she will get there.

My 9 month old has had 6 teeth for about 2 months (maybe 3) now and no signs of others coming in. They will eventually all make it in. I have heard that the later they come in the better because then your child's mouth has room to grow before the adult second set comes in. Not sure if this makes you feel any better but my son's teeth hadn't started coming in until he was about 7 months. When we went to the dentist last she said he still had "a bunch of baby teeth" while my girls had 3 or 4. They are all 9 yrs old and he was the later to get the most teeth.

Both of my boys had only 2 teeth at 13 months old. However, they were both caught up by the time they were 2. They started out slowly, but then they started getting them in constantly, and multiples at a time. So, try to relax and give it some time. I am sure she is fine.

Our son didn't get his first tooth until he was almost 15 months old and still was getting 2-year molars well past 2.5 years old! Don't worry at all. I was also a very late teether apparently. Also, don't be surprised if your daughter is also a late talker. I was and so was my son. Until they have teeth, they can't make the right sounds to start talking... but he went from a couple of words to full sentences within about 3 months time. It was amazing. Every kid is different. Your doctor is correct... some kids get teeth very, very late! As I recall, he got 2-4 teeth between like 15-18 months, and then he didn't get more for a few months after that. But then they really started coming in. All but those pesky molars...
