It sounds like she may be getting in her molars. Children will usually get their one-year, two-year, and six-year molars. So don't be alarmed, that is perfectly normal.
I recently noticed my daughter is growing a tooth in the back on the bottom (not quite a wisdom tooth either). Up until this point her teeth has been coming in the front only. I thought it was a canker sore, so I did not worry all that much about it. Now that I got a closer look, I'm worried. Has any other mothers seen this same thing with their child? Is it 'normal'? What did you do?
Thank you for all the great and reassuring responses. I feel better about this situation now. My daughter will drool a little more every now and then with this new tooth coming in, but is not fussy or display pain. Thanks again!

How far back is the tooth? Along with the teeth your child gets in the front there is a set of molars that come in around 1 year. Then another set of molars that come around 2 years and then 6 and 12 years. If its the 1 year molars it would be right behind the front teeth.
You could always take her in to a dentist in a couple of months. My son has an extra tooth in the front, so when I called and asked about it, they said most dentists like to do a visit between 18 and 24 mos. They just take a look basically.
I'm sure it's just a molar. My son started getting his 2 year molars early. He won't be 2 until November and he's been working on molars for months. My boys are good teethers so the only thing I do is give them Motrin at bedtime and they're fine. I've heard the teething tablets work too but I've never tried them.
Hi Linda. My 14 month old son has the same bottom tooth coming in. I noticed he was a little fussy so I felt around in his mouth and I could fell this tooth that was in the back on the bottom. I give my son ibuprofen for the pain. I usually give him pain medicine before bed. He has 4 front top teeth and 4 bottom front teeth. And now this new toothy. I'm not worried and you shouldn't be either. I have read that some babies teeth come in differently then what they are supposed to. Good Luck.
Is this a molar? Does she have any molars yet?
They get 2year molars and 6year molars
Did your daughter get her first teeth early on because she may get her 2 years molars early then.
My daughter got all her teeth very very late and now isn't loosing them on time and hasn't gotten her 6year molars yet either. When they say 2 year molars it really varies with each child it's just average that they get them at 2.
If it's something really adnormal or strange looking you can take her into a dentist. I take my daughter to a pediatric dentist and they know everything about little kids mouths.
Hi Linda!
Both of my daughters got all their teeth pretty early. I think it is normal for kids to get their 1 year molars in the first year! Good luck!
My daughter did the same thing. She grew four teeth on the top and bottom in the front, then nothing for a while. Then all of a sudden, she started sprouting large molars in the back with no teeth in between them and the front teeth! It looks weird but I think that's normal.
It is her 1st year molar. Totally normal. She will have 2 more teeth erupt between her molar and laterals. When she is done getting her teeth she will have 10 on top and bottom.
Don't be concerned.
My 15 month old has one on each side on the bottom coming in.
Our daughter got 8 teeth in front, and then some molars. So there's a gap waiting for a tooth in four places. These 12 teeth all came between 6 and about 13 months.
