11 m.o. Still Not Loving Solids

My son just hit 11 months and is still not very into solid foods. He'll eat yogurt and fruit purees, but practically no meat or veggies in baby-food form. I've been doing finger foods for him lately -- both diced pieces and big chunky things he can gnaw on -- and he really likes that but doesn't consume very much at all. He seems to still have a bit of the tongue-poking reflex when it comes to having stuff in his mouth. He absolutely loves breastfeeding still, drinks a ton of milk, and is in the 80th percentile for height/weight. I try to give him three solid meals a day, but he's definitely not eating as much as most other babies his age or even younger.

I'm guessing he's just kind of a slow developer on this front and will take a while to come around to it. But I was really, really hoping to start weaning next month. I'm really small and my breasts are an E/F cup right now and I'm having awful pain in my ribs from the weight (and yes, I've tried multiple kinds of bra). But I'm just not sure whether I'll be getting him off the boob any time soon. Has anybody been through this? I should add that he doesn't like bottles much and I was hoping to wean him straight to cups, which he doesn't seem to like much either :-/

What can I do next?

Just wondering, but are you feeding him solids before or after B/F? My son took a while to warm up to solids, so one thing I did regularly was to wait on nursing until about a half-hour after I offered food. Or waited at least 2 hours or so after a nursing so I knew he was more likely to be hungry.

He will get used to solid foods.. in time.. keep offering different table foods cut up. 3 solid food meals a day.. and a couple of snacks.. (cheerios) goldfish crackers..

he will start to like table food eventually.. but he may enjoy nursing for a long time..

Don't wean him until he's eating more food. Vitamin D milk won't do as much for him and he'll lose weight.

One thing that stuck in my head is this: As long as their eating.

That really helped me on those days my baby was picky. Shes 3 now and is eating almost everything.

Totally normally (even if not convenient for you :) My older son didn't start loving solids until 14 months. Only kid I know who refused to eat birthday cake or even frosting on his first birthday lol. So, it will happen soon, most likely, but I don't think you can push it. He'll be ready when he's ready.

For the sippy cups, I found the best way to get him used to those was to take the valve out so that when I tipped it up to his lips, the milk (freshly pumped warm breastmilk) would drip out. Once he realized that something he really like was in there, he gradually got the hand of sucking on it. And after he was one, I gradually shifted it from warm breastmilk to cool milk. But asking a baby to go from warm breastmilk from you to cold cow's milk in a sippy is a lot to ask. Take it in steps.

My son liked the veggies and fruit but not meat, so I would give a spoonful with a combo of fruit and meat in the same bite and he LOVED it!
