I breastfed, so obviously she isnt holding anything. When I give her juice in a bottle, she can hold it, but I prefer to feed her in my arms. (10 1/2 months old)
I think one of the benefits of breastfeeding is that the baby and mom have a nice cuddle and intimate moment. If I chose to bottle feed, I wouldnt do it any different. You only get this short time to feed them and its the sweetest thing. I dont think babies should have a bottle propped or drink a bottle of milk or formula alone, they should be cuddled the same as a breast fed baby.
It sounds like your son CAN feed it to himself, but prefers you to do it? INDULGE him, and yourself, and dont worry about it. Enjoy your baby, they grow up far too fast.

I think that while perhaps he should be ABLE to that doesn't mean he necessarily has to want to. Honestly I think at only 10 months if baby hold his own bottle and starts feeding himself solids you lose a lot of important time together... I would want to keep feeding time as a cuddly bonding moment, so he can just relax and enjoy the time with you and you can hold his bottle... It's comforting for him and he is still a baby! Maybe encourage him seperately to be able to hold his own sippy cup with a little watered down juice instead?

So not a problem. Some babies just love having someone give it to them.
Enjoy it because soon he will be jumping off your lap.

I don't think any of my babies held their own bottles, especially if I was holding them. My oldest son, never did. As soon as we started sippy cups though he held it right away, he was 11 months old when he took the cup.

There is a big difference between what they can do, should do, and want to do... Don't worry too much. But if you really want him to hold the bottle, try sitting him in his high chair when it is bottle time and putting it on the tray for a bit and see what he does.

I'm sure he's fine!

My DD is breastfed, so she doesn't drink from a bottle... but she has been holding her own sippy cup since she was 6 months old. I don't think it's a big deal if he doesn't WANT to hold it, as long as he CAN.

At 10 months he should be holding his bottle. My son was 9 months. I would work on encouraging him to hold it himself. Put it in front him maybe half full so it isn't too heavy... If he won't hold the bottle start introducing the sippy cup and bypass the bottle all together.
