My daughter will be 9 months on the 17th. To me she still seems to young for just one nap but i know every baby is different. For the last week or so she has NOT been napping good at all. Maybe an hour in the am and and hour in the pm around 8:30/9 am and again around 1pm. Goes to bed at 7 and still gets up 1-2 times a night and up by 6am for daycare. Is this to early to go to 1 nap a day. I would like to keep it at 2 but i know some babies need more sleep and others less. When did your kids start going to one nap a day. Yesterday she missed her morning nap and still only slept an hour in the afternoon. She is getting her top teeth in so i dont know if the napping protest could be due to that or growing, etc. Any advice??? Thanks!!

What can I do next?

At 8 months my son still took 3 naps per day, but by a year he was down to 1. Sometimes I think that they just like to do everything on their own time : )

Try the motrin test - give her some about 45 minutes before her morning nap, and then again before her afternoon nap. If she sleeps better, it's probably because of the teething, and I wouldn't switch around her nap schedule yet. If it doesn't make a difference, she might need to drop down to one nap.

Good luck.

My DS dropped to 1 nap at 10mos. He wasn't ready for it, but as you know, there's no forcing them to sleep.

We just made sure that he had some quiet time in the late afternoon when he was really tired.

It really just depends on your daughter. My son is 16 months old and I put him down for a morning nap when he is fussy and if not then we dont. I think she is a little on the young side to completely nix the morning but this is my opinion. I would stay the course and she will give you queue as to what she needs or wants.

Dear T., My son at this age also had 2 1 hour naps. That is fine. I would make the transition when she has trouble falling asleep for either the morning or afternoon nap...Then you can slowly push the one nap to late morning....
