Your Favorite Toys & Books for a 1 Year-old

Hi moms, what are your favorite toys and board books for a 1 year-old? We have some Karen Katz books that my DD destroyed so I'm looking for some titles of sturdier lift-the-flap books as well as other cute board books. Also, do you know of any clothing labels that make very simple, modern, all cotton baby clothes without any ruffles, bows, embroidery, etc.? I just want something very plain, like the basics at BabyStyle. Thanks for your help.

Will the Rubbermaid Tall (or other) Lunchblox system fit in an LL Bean Flip-Top Lunch box? NB: A few of you were quite rude and called me 'lazy' for not measuring the items in question. For your information, I noted the measurements on both products and tried to make a determination based upon this information prior to asking my question here. Preparing for First Grade

Hi Moms, My son will be starting first grade in September and I'm trying to prepare for it. We home schooled for Grade K because we didn't have public K in our town last year - we live in NH. So this is all new to us. What will my son need to go to school - a backpack, lunch box, pencils, rulers, pens, notebooks? I don't know where to begin. Do 6 year olds need a backpack? What's a good one - something from LL Bean? What kind of lunch boxes work best? Do I supply him with pencils and erasers? Do first graders use pens? What about markers...
