A few months ago I received documents stating that a seismic testing company was going to come do testing on our property and they wanted us to relieve them of all responsibility should damage come to our property and home. We did not sign. The company who owns the mineral rights also sent us something insisting we sign and waive them of responsibility as well. This time they sent a cute young guy to sweet talk me into signing but of course I didn't.
On Saturday they came out and marked the places they will put the charges. Rather then doing it way away from the house like they could have (we have 4 acres) they marked places for the charges right along our well, house, playground and fruit trees and THEN it goes out to the far property line. Less then 10 feet on either side of our well they have it marked. They will drill 150 feet down (our well is 190 feet) and then load them with dynamite. And they really expect that when our well breaks we won't do anything? What about my house??!! I used to live in a neighborhood that had the seismic testing done and the foundations cracked and the walls seperated. Realtors refused to list homes there for sale. It was awful. And to have a new well drilled is super expensive.
Is there something I can do to get them off my land, or at the very least keep them from destroying our well?

My husband and I had a baby in September and he has a 2 1/2 year old from a previous relationship. According to child support laws once a person has a 2nd child with a different mother they pay a little less in child support. However, yesterday he told me that a coworker of his said to watch out because since we are married she (baby's momma -- they were never married) will get a percentage of OUR COMBINED income and not just his income. Is this true? If so, that is ridiculous.
My husband also told me that if he ever died I would be responsible for paying his child support. Is this true? I think he was misinformed but if this is the law that is INSANE!
*** update ***
to all the women yelling at me bc i want the child support lower... it would only be 2.5% lower and the mother of my step son almost makes more money than my husband and i both combined.. so she will NOT be hurting at all. and i love my step son & am not trying to keep things from him.. it is NOT like that at all. he is well provided for by his mother and by us. i buy things for him all the time.. i just dont think i should be obligated to pay money to his mother for ANY reason

okay so this is really hard for me to put out there but here's my situation. we moved here less than a year ago bc i had lost my job due to having to take my son to dr. appts all the time. (he had a t.b.i. at 6 months) so we moved down here with my parents to try & start over. my husband works but we still struggle. we are waiting approval for my son to receive disability ( i have even talked to a person on the phone & she says he will be approved but it is still being processed) so things are looking to get better but not in time for us.
our electric was turned off bc my check from last month was returned, so now we have to pay that plus this month plus an extra dep. which adds up to like $800. we live in keller so we have no other option except tri-county. we are staying with my parents until we figure something out but tensions are high. we are just trying to pay our mortgage & not lose our house, but we need help to pay the electric & get it back on. are there any programs for low-income families. or any programs that help families that have a special needs child. (my son has very severe anoxic brain injuries)
if you know of any programs please let me know. i fear that this stress right now, after all that we have been through might just be the straw that broke the camels back.

I have been divorced from the father of my children for over 6 years. I am remarried, happily, and my hubby takes my boys on like they're his. In the last 2 years, my ex and I have become somewhat friends. We can call and talk about the boys, change visitation as needed and really work together. The only problem is, he won't follow the court order and reimburse for any medical bills or premiums. I even told him that I would take a lesser amount than he owed, if he would just do it regularly. The Attorney General will take him to court for all the unpaid bills and premiums, if I file with them. I'm just torn because I know that the second I file, all the friendliness will go out the window and he takes our fighting out on the kids. My hubby and I struggle but we get by. I just can't decide because I really don't want to fight anymore but my ex needs to take responsibility. I'm stressed both ways because the boys' medical bills are over $6,000 a year, ouch!! Just want to hear from you guys, thought it would help me to make a decision. We choose to have the insurance through us because my ex can't keep a job, btw. And, the high bills are because my son has special needs.

I have a boss who absolutely does not like to pay overtime. Not only time & a half, but even just regular pay for anything over 40 hours. Up to this point I haven't worked any overtime but do have an event coming up that will require me to work on both Saturday & Sunday, which will exceed my 40 hour work week. I would like to do some research on overtime laws to know for sure what my rights are but I don't know where to look. Can I just call an attorney to ask a question or do they charge for that? If she ends up not paying any kind of overtime do I take her to the labor department? If any of you moms have any ideas I would appreciate it!!!

Hi, Moms, im not sure if anyone can answer this for me but ill give it a shot. I want to Patent an idea of mine that i have been working on, so i recently did a patent search and found that there are other patents for the same produt. The patents that i searched have the same function as mine but are not made exactly the same. Before i go waste my time on legal advice and patents or other services, does anyone know if i could still patent my idea. Any information on the this subject would help me a great deal. Thank you in advance!

As you can see by my profile I have three little ones and a full time job. Somehow though the fulltime job just doesn't seem enough some months. For example -my little guy (11 mo.) had a case of bronchitis this month and the medications for the breathing machine ran me $230! That was money I really didn't have to spare as I'm sure most of you mom's know. Do any of you know of a way to earn extra money that won't take up too much time - I'm already away from them 9 hours a day! "Help!"

Hi Moms,
With the economy the way it is, my husband and I are trying to reduce our monthly bills... Unfortunately we now pay almost 6k PER month for bills... That is NOT including gas, food, entertainment, etc.....
We have comcast now for our cable and internet and pay 170.00 per month (ridiculous)... We plan to switch to Direct TV but I am worried about the satelite going out when it's really cloudy out or raining... Any suggestions? Does anyone have Direct TV and love it or hate it? It's only going to be about 80 per month. That does NOT include internet though... Any suggestions where I can get "high speed" internet for cheaper?... We tried Verizon but our wiring in our neighborhood is with Bellsouth and doesn't allow Verizon to do it...
Also, does anyone use Vonage for the home phone? Like it? We would love a cheaper home phone too... We have At&T right now and pay almost 100 for it.....
Does anyone use Metro? We have a family plan with Verizon and pay about 170.00 per month.. I know Metro is cheaper but I heard the signal stinks.. I would rather pay more to get a better signal but I didn't know if that was true or not.......
Any suggestions are appreciated.....
Even if we could cut costs down by 200 per month, it's still a savings...

My DH has a private marriage and family counseling practice in Allen. Our accountant just recently recommended that we get a financial program to keep his books on the computer. The only ones I've heard of are Microsoft Money and Quickbooks. So, do you know anything about either or both of these programs? Which would you recommend? Why?
Thanks, ladies!!
