My nine month old son tested positve for the Rotovirus. He started last Thursday with the diarrhea and vomiting. We spent Sunday night in the hospital because he became dehydrated. They let us come home Monday evening because he stopped vomiting and was drinking a lot of fluids. Today (Tuesday) he still has the diarrhea, which the doctor said could last up to two weeks. I was just wondering if anyone else has been through this, and if they have any tips to make it a little easier on my son, and how long did the diarrhea last? His bottom is very sore and he cries when we go to change him. The hospital gave us some sponges to use instead of wipes and they seem
to help a little. The worst part is he gave it to me!

I know there have to be some other plus-sized, active mommas out there, and I need your help! :)
I'm just about 5 months post-partum, and *surprise, surprise!!* the baby weight has not magically melted away, lol.... I do yoga regularly but I would desperately like to get back in the gym for some cardio in a step class (I used to live for these classes, but obv had to give them up when I became pregnant!) -- however, as a 46F nursing mommy, there's no way I can even think about jumping around without the girls safely in a sports bra! The tough part is that it has to be a nursing bra too because I'm exclusively breastfeeding my daughter and plan to breastfeed for at least a year, possibly more. Does anyone out there have experience with a store in the Sacramento area, or even an online merchant? I'd be really appreciative -- I don't want the fact that I don't have a nursing sports bra to be an excuse to sit on my butt!!
Thanks so much in advance :)

I have always been a very athletic person - walking, running and cycling on a daily basis. Pre-pregnancy, I weighed 160 - when my first child was born in June 2007, I weighed 220, and have since dropped to 180 (everyone says those last twenty are tough!) However, now, I have recently found out I am 7 weeks pregnant with child #2 due in October. I am very worried about my weight, as I am already starting out 20 pounds heavier and gaining another 60 would not be a good thing. During my last pregnancy, I had a lot of trouble sleeping due to the extra weight and a lot of pain in my hips - I could handle it then, but with an 8month old to take care of, I dont have the ability to sit with my feet up and rest!
My upper body is not the problem - I have gained all my weight on my rear and thighs. I would appreciate any exercises you would recommend for the lower body, considering I cant do anything too strenuous. We have a pool, and I will be swimming as soon as it gets warmer. I am VERY careful about what I eat, but the weight keeps adding no matter what.
Thanks in advance for your help, my apologies on the length of the request!

My daughters still take baths together... however, they have both been asking how old they have to be to take a shower by themself like mommy does. They are very independent little girls, and very responsible kids (they clean up after themselves, get themselves dressed, put their dishes in the sink when theyre done eating, brush their own hair and teeth, put their shoes/socks/jackets on themselves, etc)... I know they wouldn't get into anything like the 'grown up shampoo' or anything in there, and they do a relatively good job of washing their own hair in the tub... they are just still my babies at heart, and taking a shower by themselves is such a huge step to me! So how old do you think a child should be before they can take a shower by themself??

This may be a little too much information for some, but after childbirth and breastfeeding I have lost all of my modesty. :)
I have 40D to 40DD breasts, before & after feeding respectively. I used to do quite a bit of running before I got pregnant, and even then I had very "bouncy" breasts. I used to wear very tight sports bras but I would still bob along. Now I am thinking about starting up running/jogging again and want to know what kind of bras you have found to work well.
Also, how has running affected your milk production? I used to have tons of milk, and now have a bit less, but still sufficient for my enthusiastic eater. I don't want to diminish it any more. I heard that when you are weaning you should wear really tight sports bras to hinder milk production. What is your experience? Has wearing tight bras decreased milk for anyone?
Any other advise?

Hi everyone,
I'm looking for advice on healthy eating to not only lose weight - I would like to lose about 10 pounds - but also keep the weight off. I applaud women that are very fit and thin - and I'm wanting to hear from these women about what they eat on a regular basis to stay so fit and thin. I know that to lose weight effectively a person has to eat healthy and exercise. I have the exercise portion of the equation down already. I acually like to exercise most weeks and I do about 40 minutes - 4-5 times per week. So now I just need to work on the healthy eating part. I get off to a good start with eating good, but then I get bored of the foods and go back to the foods I like, which aren't very figure friendly.
So for all the fit and thin women out there - what do you eat for breakfast, lunch and dinner? What do you do to keep your food interesting so you're not tempted by the unhealthy food options? Since I have twin toddlers I also love easy meals - is that possible -quick fix and healthy meals? Also, do you make dinners that the whole family likes, but they're still healthy enough to maintain your weight or lose weight? Or do you eat a separate dinner that's more figure friendly.
I look forward to hearing from everyone. I really want to lose this 10 pounds and stay on the right track with eating healthy for the long term.
Thanks
A.

I am hoping something like this actually exists. Getting fed up with having my toddler tugging at my clothes & whining & climbing all over me while I attempt to do yoga with the DVD I already have. I can not afford classes or to send my daughter to a sitter just so I can exercise. Besides, I think it would be a great example for her to see me doing it. Not to mention, I was an overweight child, and I really want her to get into being active at an early age.
So finding a DVD to use at home that could appeal to her, while still actually being effective for ME to use too would be ideal.
TIA!

I BF my daughter for a little while, but it was severly painful b/c of this. I am pregnant and would like to BF my new son when he is born. I have tried lanonlin b/c this is what the doctor recommended, but it does not seem to be doing much. Does anyone have any suggestions on what to use? Since I am pregnant I am willing to use things other than lanonlin at the moment. I am hoping I can heal somewhat before the end of June when the baby comes!

I have had a problem with rosacea for over three years. It got pretty bad when I was pregnant with my first son and recently again when I got pregnant with my second son. It also runs in my family so I was genetically predestined to have it I guess!
I have tried many products for acne, sensitive skint, etc. since I was not officially diagnosed with it until this year. My dermatologist suggested a couple of products, like a wash and some pills but they are very expensive (over $100 each). I would love to get some suggestions from all Moms who have dealt with this. Any products, treatments, etc. that might have worked for you that you would recommend would be greatly appreciated!!

Hi Everyone,
I have 11 month old identical twin girls and they keep me busy. This request is mostly about me. I was on bed rest in the hospital for two months before having my girls. I am happy to say that my girls are healthy and wonderful. When I finally went home and started moving around, my legs began to hurt and these spots came on my legs. I was horrified. I am seeing a dermtologist but she said all I can do is use bleaching cream. This is what I am doing now. The spots are slowing clearing but still visible. I was wondering if any mothers experience this after pregnancy. I also wanted to know if there is anything else i can do to remove these. I am a little upset because I am unable to wear skirts and dresses because of this. I will really appreciate any suggestions and help I get. Thanks in advance.

This isn't a crisis at all but just wondering what can be causing my daughters breakout. She will be 17 on Saturday and her skin has been clear all through the Middle School years until now. The only thing she has changed was she started using that mineral makeup from Sephora about a year ago. Could this be clogging her pores? She of course hates that I try and figure out what it could be because I know it bothers her to have the breakout. Yes her life is stressfull. She is taking AP courses and trying to keep her class rank in the top 10%. She is running track and a competitive cheerleader. I bought her a Neutragena kit for acne and it looks like its getting better but I hate asking her about it. I told her to drink lots of water and not to touch her face and to let her face breathe as much as possible without makeup but it looks really bad if she doesn't cover it up and that's why she wears makeup all day. She never should have started wearing all over makeup in the first place she had the best skin.

Well ladies this is a pivotal year for me, I will be turning 50 and don't know how to handle it. Over the years, I have focused my life around my child and husband. I have really let myself go. I have gained a considerable amount of weight, I am heavier now than when I was in my 9 months of pregnancy. I blame my weight on my thyroid condition, it doesn't work anymore and I am on medication. It really is amazing how time just flys by and then all of a sudden you look in the mirror and wonder what happened. What I am looking for is how I can get my motivation back to get myself back in shape. I have a full time job and spend the rest of the time following my daughters itinerary and playing taxi service. Everytime I start something, i.e. weight watchers, nutrisystem, etc. with my thyroid condition it takes me forever to lose just 5 lbs. There is nothing worse then to pay to get on a scale and have someone tell you after dieting all week that you only lost 1/8 of a lb. Then the next week it is only 1/2 lb. Very discouraging. I want this year and the years to follow to be happy with myself. Get control of my life and be excited. I don't want to be depressed with my age, weight, etc. Have any suggestions.

Hi Ladies!
Okay so I always hear of moms going to work out at the Santa Monica stairs and it working miracles on their mom bods. I live in Encino...and with twins it's too hard to drive to Santa Monica...much less leave the house!!!
I was at Universal Studios a while back and remember those crazy stairs by the GIANT escalator near the back lot. Anyone know of these? So anyway, I want to see if there are any mommies wanting to set up a once a week thing where we climb those dreaded stairs and maybe walk around Universal for a while to tire out the kids! My babies are far from walking but it seems like a safe place cause there are no cars!
I have never really worked out in my life and if I don't have people to be accountable to I never will. I really need to though...my hot tubby twin bod really wants to wear my old cloths again!
I am 28 and a sahm so I am pretty flexible with the timing.
Oh by the way. You buy 1 day at Universal and get the year free. Plus there is a parking pass you can buy for free parking till 6pm for the duration of your pass. DOn't know the prices off hand. Maybe we could get a group deal.
Anyone interested. Frankly, I'm not really interested either!! But I NEED to do something and maybe it won't be SOOO miserable if their are other supportive woman looking for the same goal!
PS- If you gave birth yesterday and already have a totally hot bod...don't respond. If I saw you I would throw myself down the huge stairs and my kids really want me around!!

I know that she is getting laughed at at school, but I don't know or think that she is ready to shave. Her dad and step-mom think it is time because she is getting teased sometimes, but I just do not feel that she is old enough to take on that responsibility.
