Hi Moms!
About 3-6 weeks after the birth of my son (12/07), my naturally curly hair started to slowly become straight/wavy. (I asked about it back then.) I gave birth to my new baby girl three weeks ago, and I have been hoping that my curly hair will return-- although I know this is not likely. So, I am wondering if you would recommend any products for fly away/unruly hair??? My hair has been really aggravating me, and I just do not know what to use on it. It was actually a lot easier to take care of my ringlets! I have tried several products, but nothing has helped. I use a diffuser on it and also a flat iron... Thanks!

I need to color my hair soon back to it's original color since my highlights are starting to grow out and wanted to see if anyone could recommend the best brand. There are so many to choose from, I'm not sure where to start. I normally get it done professionally, but money is tight now that I stay home full time, and I'm not willing to spend $80 or more to get it done. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks!

Ok so I am a natural blonde, bright blonde..well I decided to color my hair..ummm RED, well not just RED, but bright Auburn...EEEKKK i'm pretty pale in color, and now I really look like a ghost. Here is the deal, under my hair there are a few parts of my hair that did not take the red color...soooo its still blonde. My question is...can I go from blonde to red and then perhaps go and have blonde chunks put in my hair to make the blonde part underneath look like it was suppose to be like this. ITs not bad or really noticeable unless I tuck my hair behind my ear (I have a hair cut like victoria beckhams) Soooo. can anyone help me please. I dont hardly ever color my hair, let alone color it so drastically...so I dont know if having the chunks done right away would fry my hair or what. Thanks in advance!!!!

Hello Everyone,
Let me give some history:
It took FOREVER for my daughter's hair to grow in when she was a toddler. Finally, when she was around 8 or so, her hair grew in, thick and lovely. Then, two years ago I noticed some hair on her brush. I didn't think anything of it. Now her hair is so thin on top that you can see her scalp.
She'll be 15 in a few weeks, and although it doesn't seem to bother her much, I'm concerned. Mostly because I'm worried why her hair is falling out. She recently had a check-up and everything came back fine. However, she didn't mention her thinning hair to the doctor.
She never wears her hair up or pulled back. She washes it every other day and never uses any product on it.
Has anyone ever had this problem with a teenager? If possible, I'd like to try to help her with a natural remedy, but any and all advice would be much appreciated
Thanks!
~C.

I can't believe it! Yesterday, I went to Sally's Beauty Supply and bought new products(shampoo,hairdryer)..I also bought a new round brush. Well, last night, I used the round brush for the 1st time and while I was blow drying the front layer of my hair, I smelled a strong burnt smell. So I stopped and when I looked at the brush, a huge chunk of burned hair was on it!!! I've been blow drying for years with the same brand of hair dryer and this has never happened! I'm certain its the brush! I threw it away of course and I can see the breakage point from where the hair was burned. I'm so sad!!
What is THE BEST treatment for severe hair breakage??? eggs, proteing, olive oil?? I've tried looking online and all products and treatments are for African American Hair. I need something for normal to dry long caucasian hair. Something serious!!! Thanks! :-)

So, if anyone can recommend a salon in like the Vista Lakes/ Waterford Lakes areas that really listens to how you want your hair done and can make realistic suggestions on hair styles and colors. I would love to give someone a try.
Thanks in advance for your suggestions.

I have been so tempted to do some of these things to my daughters hair, but will it be considered weird? Again, this is my almost 7 year old (next week) that I am talking about. At first I saw little girls that have their hair dyed go into my daughters school and I thought it was weird to see a kid that young already coloring their hair, but now all of the sudden I am tempted to do it too. One of my ex co-workers had her daughters hair permed and it looks really pretty. Should I go through with it?

My eight year old has thick, red, curly hair. It is past her shoulders and it is in a pony tail holder every day (esp. w/ the heat). When she was little, I could just pull the front sides up to the center of her head and the curls would frame her face, it doesn't do that anymore. I don't know whether to add some layers or will that be a disaster? Right now when it is hanging down, it's kinda shaped like a pyramid and it needs to be shaped but it is her crowning glory and I don't want to mess it up at a salon considering how LONG it takes to grow back. I think she's only had a 1/2 dozen haircuts b/c it takes so long to grow.
Any cutting recommendations and a stylist EXPERIENCED with this hair type would be appreciated.

Hi - I moved to Haltom City this summer. The thing is that I really miss the lady who did my hair in Austin. She was in my church and she had a salon in her home and she would cut, wash, and highlight my long hair for $45!!! This would normally cost me over $100. So before I moved I went back to one color, however, I hate it and so does my husband. So this trip back to Austin, I went back to her and went back to highlights. So now I need to find someone who can do a good job on my hair for a pretty cheap price. Anybody have any recommendations? I mean I love to visit my parents, but being a teacher I don't know if I came make it down there every 2-3 months and drive 3 1/2 hours to have my hair done. Please help!!

I know it sounds trivial, but my almost 3 year old daughter will NOT let me put her hair up in a ponytail, even a small one. She has the most beautiful curly fine hair, just past her shoulders. I do good to get in up on the sides with clips but that lasts only about 2 seconds with the way she moves and plays. Any ideas on how i can get her hair up out of her eyes without cutting it? (I just can't.)

Since my daughter wears hearing aids, I put her hair up every day... either in pigtails or ponytail. It makes it easier to get her hearing aids in if her hair is up. I noticed a month or so ago that she had some really short hairs at the crown and about a 1/2 inch from the bottom of her hair line on her neck. At first I thought that it was possibly new hair growth but now I'm thinking it is possibly breaking off from wearing it up every day. Her hair is pretty long and one of her best features! She has A LOT going against her and her hair is so beautiful I don't want to do any damage. Are there any hair professionals out there that can give me some advice???? I can't spend a lot of money because with all her therapies, doctors, etc... we are tapped out financially. Otherwise I'd just take her to the best Salon I could find! Thank you SO MUCH!

So, can anyone tell me what fun Im in for when he does grow more hair?

Hi Moms. It has been impossible for me to find a hair stylist that does what I want and does it right. I used another Mamasource mom's recommendation about three months ago. I drove pretty far and got a VERY snooty, she's-better-than-me stylist who cut my hair crooked. It is SO INCREDIBLY noticable that one side is way shorter than the other. I have tried to hide it the best I could, but now it has grown out somewhat and you can really tell. I know that I should have gone back to her right away, but to be honest she cut it too short and I was scared that she was going to screw it up even more.
BTW...her cut cost me $70
I live in Plano and would like someone fairly close. I am sure there is someone good somewhere in Plano!
Thank you!!!

I'm needing help to get rid of my dry flaky scalp. Can it be the result of having a baby, almost seven months ago, and breast feeding? I've used "Head and Shoulders" dry scalp, wash my hair every other day, and used conditioner, and letting it sit for 5mins. My scalp is still dry and flaky. Overall my hair is healthy. I do not use products on my hair,it's not colored or highlighted--pretty much it is "all natural."
Thanks for all your help,

Well moms..... I started taking One A Day weight smart as a vitamin for overall health and I have been taking it for about a month now and I have noticed a significant change in hair loss, I know you are supposed to lose hair everyday but I am starting to leave trails!!! and the only thing that has changed is the fact that I'm taking vitamins!
I already have thin hair so I was hoping for it to get a little thicker like when I was pregnant and I took the prenatal vitamins and it helped ALOT... but now I dunno what vitamins to take.
I started eating more vegetables and it helped alot with my hair and nails but when I added the one a day in it started to fall out alot and now im sad

I need some advice. I have been going to the same hair stylist for over 20 years. She is very good and my hair always looks fabulous when she cuts it. I don't go to her as often as I should because her haircuts are about $55 (which is a lot of money for me every 6 weeks). I think she's totally worth it, I just can't afford it as much as I would like. In addition to cutting hair at a salon, she recently started cutting hair in her home. I am going to see her at her house soon and she told me at my last appointment at the salon she charges $35 for an in-home cut. In the past, I would pay $55 for a cut and then give her a $10 tip. Again I think she's worth every penny, but what I'm wondering is when I get my hair cut at her house and I give the $35 right to her, how much am I expected to tip? Can I just do $5? I'm assuming almost all of the $35 will go right to her, whereas some of the money from the $55 cut at the salon probably goes to rental fees and other salon expenses. I don't want to seem like a cheapskate, but it would be nice to save a little money.

My baby boy is almost a year old and his hair is not terribly thick, but it's beginning to get long and wispy all over. I don't think he's old enough to sit still for a professional haircut, so I'm not sure what to do. We didn't do anything with my older son's hair until it thickened up and looking back at pictures, he looked like he had a Donald Trump comb-over! :-) If I trim my baby's hair, should I do it with scissors just over the ears or give him a "buzz cut" with a pair of clippers so it's even all over? Please let me know what you've done with your son's hair. Thanks!

So about a month ago I dyed my hair to a medium brown color and I really loved it. Then the dye faded away (even though it was permanent) and was gone. I went back to the store and bought the same brand of hair dye, but a little bit darker brown, thinking that if it faded this time at least it would be the color I was shooting for. Welllll....this time there is no fading, and even though the box said brown, my hair turned out BLACK! I hate it. It's been a week and it has faded ever so slightly (either that or I'm just getting used to it) and I want to know if there is anything you all know of that can fix my hair. I would like to not put any more chemicals on it since I've put two boxes on in a months time, and I don't want to chance having that many chemicals. But in the mean time is there anything I can put that isn't too harsh that will lighten my hair or even take it back to normal? Thanks in advance!

My husband and I disagree strongly on what to do with our children's hair. My husband is 1/2 AA and 1/2 Puerto Rican and I am white. We have a son (3 1/2) and a daughter (16 mos) whose hair is a nice blend of the three cultures. They have beautiful curls that are soft (not what most people consider "kinky"). My son's hair seems a little coarse but we keep is short and I don't mind putting pink oil in it to keep it soft since his is kind of dry. My daughter, however, is the cause for our disagreements. Her hair is very soft and fine (like baby hair) but curly. He says that I should put pink oil in her hair everyday and gets really mad if I don't. I say she has hair more like mine (only curly) and a detangler daily is just fine. Either way, when she sleeps on it for naps or pulls it (which is a whole other story) it gets frizzy where the curls have been rubbed. I need suggestions for how to care for her hair. Because she's so young, I don't want to use anything really strong and absolutely refuse to put any chemicals on her hair. HELP!!!
