Read the entire question and 6 answersWe will be having a birthday party for my soon-to-be 1 yr old daughter. There will be kids ranging in age from 8 months to 4 years. Should we plan any activities for them or do they just prefer to run around and play at that age? Any suggestions on good games/activities that can be done indoors? We plan on having toys around for them to play with and a dvd like Finding Nemo or something on the tv, but I don't want anyone to be bored!
Read the entire question and 12 answersMy son is turning 2 on Sunday. We are planning to do a simple party at the park, because many of his friends are my older daughter's playmates, and their younger siblings, so we wanted something that would appeal to all ages. I have never done an outdoor party before, so my question is, what kinds of decorations and food should I take to the park? My son is a car fanatic, if that helps!
Read the entire question and 9 answersMy daughter's 13th birthday is coming up next month and I'm at a loss for ideas to celebrate it. She wants to do something "special" like a party or activity with friends, but coming up with a theme for a party or any original ideas to make it really "cool" is proving difficult. She is wanting something that she could invite both boys and girls to and everyone would have a great time. Does anyone have any ideas? She's not a real "girly-girl", she's very athletic and even plays soccer for our high school's team already. She is also really into music, singing, and dancing. Any ideas would be appreciated! Also, ideas for keeping it all within reason price-wise would be great! We had no trouble with choosing her birthday gifts, but the party/celebrating part is so much more difficult! Thanks for any help and ideas you all have to offer!
Read the entire question and 42 answersHi, I would like to receive some fun ideas to make my son's birthday special each year. He was born the day after Christmas. He will be one this year. Many people I've talked to who have a birthday around Christmas feel like they missed out on their birthday because everyone was celebrating Christmas. I would like to hear from anyone...but especially those people who have birthdays around Christmas. Thanks.

We are doing something simple here at our house and are getting several Pizza's from Costco! I am going to do the cake myself but need ideas for the theme. I sent "E-vites" out that were dinosaurs but then I thought about an undersea theme. -What type of foods would accompany a pizza well and good for toddlers! -Also what type of party favors do you give for about 11-one year olds! Thanks in advance! T.
Read the entire question and 17 answersHi ladies, I'm in need of some ideas for my husbands birhday which is this Thursday, April 12. I wanted to do something unexpected (funny/sweet/nice, anything creative) at work for him, but not sure what. My husband is turning 39, so I'm going to do a party (go all out) for the big one 40th next year, but this year I want to do something fun. A little about him, he plays a lot of golf, he did a golf thing last year for his b-day, he's funny and makes us laugh all the time, so some type of joke thing is great. He's a supervisor for an insurance carrier, not a stuffy guy. Very athletic and outgoing...great guy! But, I've run out of creative ideas for his birthday. ANY suggestions would be much appreciated, looking forward to hearing back from those creative wives:)
Read the entire question and 13 answersI would like any suggestions for my daughter's second birthday party in April. Her first birthday we did "A Little Princess Birthday Party" at home. I want to do something different, not Chuck E. Cheeses or anything of that nature, something creative. Thanks for any responses.....
Read the entire question and 13 answersI am trying to plan a 40th b-day party for my husband. It is looking to cost more than I would like to spend...but of course doesn't everything? Is it inappropriate to ask the guests to pay something like $10 per person? Depending on what I decide on, it is looking to be about $30 or more per person. I was just thinking it might curb the cost. Or maybe, I am just being cheap?
Read the entire question and 10 answersHi! I'm having a birthday party for my daughter at a local pizza parlor (Gatti's). I was wondering how do you tell the parent that the child is paid for but the adult is not? We decided to just pay for the kids only, is this recommended or will parents not want to come to a child's party if they are not paid for in a public place that you have to pay for yourself. I am just needing some insite and if I do, how should I address it on the invitation? Thanks in advance!

Read the entire question and 7 answersHi Moms! My daughter is having a fancy, dress up tea party for her 8th birthday. I am looking for ideas for food, decorations, and crafts or activities. There will be approximately 12 little girls aged 3 - 10 in attendance. I don't have a huge budget with which to work. Anyone know where I can get some inexpensive hats, gloves, boas for dress up/favors??
Read the entire question and 11 answersDoes anyone know where I can buy afforable party stuff? It's not a big party. It's an intimate party between me and my two children (one of them being the birthday girl). Anywho, also does anyone know of any nice parks in Corona/Riverside area? With a lake possibly, a nice scenery 'type of place'--to take pics. I've tried posting this earlier, but it din't seem to go thru, sorry if you see two listings. D

I'm looking for a place where we could celebrate our son's 3th birthday party in mid April. we need a place which offer some activities for the kids. even a small play space is enough or somthing similer (just to keep them busy and happy while we,the parents could hang out together). the problem is that we have different group ages (some of our frinds kids are one and the others are three years old), we don't want to spend too much on organized activities. please let me know if you have any ideas or suggestions. thank you!
Read the entire question and 8 answersHey mamas -- We are having my DD 4th birthday party next Saturday the 16th. I have checked around with Chicken Express and Chick Fil A and were not thrilled with their party platter prices. I need to feed about 20 adults and 10 kids some easy food. I don't really want to do pizza as we did it for another bday recently and it got expensive, there was a lot of waste with the little ones, and some adults went hungry (we ran out). I am willing to cook side dishes, but most of the time at our parties, I end up in the kitchen the whole time and I don't want that this year. I need to be available to run the party. Can anyone suggest food that can be made ahead of time with minimal reheating/fuss or a good cheap catering idea?? I don't want to just do chips/dips, I need to feed everyone. Thanks, Martha

Read the entire question and 10 answersThe Plainfield school dist has instituted a wellness policy this year - healthier foods for lunches, etc etc. While as a whole I think it is wonderful, it also includes NO food items for a birthday treat for my son's Kindergarten class. He has come home with a few treat bags, which have consisted of pencils, a toy plane - nothing exciting. I am planning a pretty elaborate party but still want to send a treat to school. I don't want to break the bank, though! Any ideas, moms?

Read the entire question and 11 answersMy daughter is turning 3 on Jan 26. This will really be her first real birthday party with friends - she missed her birthday party last year because she was in the hospital. She had a heart transplant this year and I really want to make it special for her. Unfortunately we are on an extremely tight budget for this. Any ideas? It will probably be at our house, but what do you do for a home party? She hasn't been able to go to any either so I am seriously in the dark here. Help!!
Read the entire question and 11 answersSO my little girl is turning 3 this month and we are having a party for her. We had planned to do it at a "party place", but she insisted that her classmates be invited(9 of them). This coupled with her other playmates if they all showed(which I doubt) was too much money for the party location. So we are doing it at home. Food is no issue. We also have out own neighboorhood park that is next door to our house. It is fenced in, and we plan to use the covered picnic area for cake and ice cream. Plus the equipment is really nice and has one area for big kids and the other for smaller kiddos. So the second half of the party is covered. Now for the first part. We want to have some games for the kids to do but I need suggestions! Thanks ladies ahead of time for the advice!!!! We have plenty of room in our home if it rains to do it all so no worries there!

Read the entire question and 5 answersHi Moms- I'm planning a birthday party for my 3 yr old son in a couple weeks. We are having it at a Gymnastics center in Twinsburg. It's a one hour of play then 30 mins in room to have cake, presents. The party will start at 2pm then will have the room (to have cake/presents) at 3pm(for 30 mins). Maybe I'm over thinking this, but want some other opinions on if I should also serve lunch. It's only 30 minutes & really not lunch time. Was considering ordering pizza, then have cake, but I think this may be too much for only 30 mins. Is it tacky not to serve lunch & only give cake & drinks at at 3:00 toddler party? Thanks, M.
Read the entire question and 15 answersI am helping my sister plan my nephew's 1 year birthday party. His bithday is Sept. 19th, so we are cutting it close. Neither one of us have a large enough house, so we were looking into having it at a park. My sister tried one the parks by her home in Lockport. The location has a pavilion, bathrooms, and a playground..but it was, of course, booked. Does anybody have any other suggestions? She was also going to rent a big "bouncy" for the kids. There are so many forest preserves and parks in our area but we are not familiar with them, so any recommendations/suggessions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!!!
Read the entire question and 5 answersI can't decide what time to do my kids' parties this year, and am hoping I can get some other mom's opinions. My 4 yr old and 2 yr old both have birthdays in August. The 4 yr old is having a mermaid splash party with sprinklers (a meal will be served). My 2 yr old is having a pirate party with a meal (no sprinklers). Obviously, the 4 yr old's birthday is outside, but I would like the 2 yr olds to be able to play outside if they want to. Do you think it would be better to do a party in the morning from 10-12 or in the evening from 5-7 or 6-8? A party ending at 8 seems really late to me, but it would be the coolest choice. I know it will be really hot in August, but I am trying to avoid the hottest part of the day. I have been going back and forth on this for months and are hoping some other moms can help out. Thanks!

We have about 50-55 people for my sons 2nd birthday which is in November. I checked out the park district and I really didn't like the facilities. I think he is too young for a Chuck E. Cheese party or anything along those lines. I don't have enough room in my house for all those people. If I do have it at home I will end up having 2 different parties and I really didn't want to have to do that either. I was just wondering if there were any facilities that are in Lombard or close by that are nice, and don't smell nasty!
