Congratulations on your pregnancy! :)

As a midwife, I believe that birth is an incredibly beautiful part of life ordained by God. Birth is a normal physiological process and women have been uniquely designed for the childbearing experience.

It is my goal to help you to achieve the pregnancy and birth experience you desire, but this can only be done with your cooperation. You have taken the responsibility upon yourself to leave the “conventional American Dr/hospital birth” for what you feel is the better care of a midwifery led care. This responsibility continues throughout your pregnancy to keep yourself in the best possible health. It is important that parents be well informed, and I will assist you in this endeavor. I cannot offer you any guarantees other than that I will do our best, with the knowledge I have, to provide you with a safe and rewarding birth experience.

My philosophy of birth is based on these basic principles:

· Birth is a normal life even, not a medical condition

· Every pregnancy, labor and birth is as unique as the individual. Through encouragement and education, you can understand the principles of good health and prenatal care in hopes of facilitating the best possible birth experience for you and your baby.

· Pregnancy and birth is a time of emotional and spiritual maturation, as well as the more obvious physical growth. It is a growth period for the entire family.

I will work with you to seek to prevent the occurrence of complications during your pregnancy and birth that could necessitate a change in your plans to give birth out of the hospital. This begins with a screening process designed to risk out those women, who for health or other reasons are not suitable for an out of hospital birth. Even with low risk births, complications can arise. Usually there is ample time to transport to the hospital, but occasionally we must deal with the complication at home. Some of the complications I have dealt with are fetal distress, prolonged labor, dehydration, meconium, shoulder dystocia, postpartum hemorrhage, respiratory distress in the baby, etc.

I believe that birth is an incredibly beautiful part of life ordained by God. Instead of relying only on my knowledge to care for the clients that I serve, I believe it is of utmost importance to seek God and His wisdom regarding everything I do in this ministry. When God is sought first, I truly believe He will allow me to be successful in serving women who desire homebirths.

My main goal is a safe birth for both you and your baby. I look forward to a rich and rewarding experience sharing this time with you. Throughout your pregnancy, I will strive to provide you and your family with the best opportunity for the uncomplicated, family centered birth you desire.

Wishing you a healthy pregnancy and birth,

Venessa Giron CPM, LM

When I was pregnant with my first child I already new I wanted a homebirth. When I started searching for a midwife I wanted someone that would not only have extensive knowledge but someone that I would feel comfortable with. Venessa fit the bill. She was a wealth of information and answered any and all questions and concerns I had. She was available when I had concerns or if I just needed a friend. The birth was amazing. So great that I used her again for my second pregnancy. I'll be making a call to her if when I get pregnant again.
