Waste of money. If you really want to try one, find one on craig's list or yard sale. Any brand will work.
What is the best cloth wipe warmer? Are they worth investing in?
Thanks for all the great advice. I have not decided what to do yet, but thanks everyone!!!

Congrats on your new bundle of joy. In my opinion...totally NOT worth the money!!! It's not like the wipes are ice cold and it is just another hassle. Remember, you aren't going to have a warmer in your diaper bag...my daughter survived the wipes...so will your son. :) I would br worried more about the early morning/lack of sleep diaper changes and trying to NOT get peed or pooped on. Ha ha ha...but seriously that stuff DOES happen...welcome to motherhood...it is THE BEST!!!
I bought one for my daughter when she was a newborn and I don't think they're worth it. What I finally started doing was putting the wipes in between my hands to warm them up a bit before wiping the baby. If you do get one, make sure you be careful because there were times where the wipes would start turning brown, which meant they were drying out and possibly could've started a fire! Good luck.
Congrats S. =)
I personally think they are just another gimmick we truly dont need...I used mine 3 or 4 times & sold it on craigslist. all my gf's said they were a waste too! Spend that $$ on precious pics of your son!
We got a used Prince Lionheart one off craigslist and love it! No regrets!
Hi S.!
First Congrats on your adoption! We have two little blessings through adoption both domestic and we brought them both home from the hospital, I was in the delivery room for Lauren! Nathan is 3 and 1/2 and Lauren will be 1 in a few short days! We ues the disposable wipes in the diaper bag. Nathan was a summer baby and we lived in New Mexico at the time so we didnt give it much thought to a wipe warmer although the first few days the cold wipes startled him a bit we just held them in our hands a minute or so and all was well. Once he got older he seemed to like the coolness. Lauren on the other hand being a Jan. baby AND we lived in Colorado for a time we thought she might need one. She didn't! As a matter of fact the enjoyed the coolness and still does!
I am not sure what type of wipes you are using. We have the flannel ones but we do not keep them in a wet solution. I have a spray bottle with the solution in it and I spray a little on the wipe and if we have a real mess onto her tushie and use the wipe. It seems to work great andis a whole lot easier since I control the wetness needed.
Great luck! Enjoy your little guy!
If you live in a very cold weather area (UT, CO, MT, ND etc) *and* you plan on leaving the wipes/diaper bag in the car, then you don't really need a warmer. There IS a portable wipes warmer that plugs into the car lighter receptacle which may be useful in the dead of winter. But having lived in CO, our wipes were fine when left in the diaper bag as it was always at room temp. LOL one time I left a box of wipes in the car, they were like a fuzzy brick of ice!
I had two different Prince Lionhart ones. The forst one with my first. I just made sure to turn the wipes over so that the ones on the bottom didn't dry out. It also happened when there weren't that many in there.
The second one, four years later (I still had the first one but it went to grandma and grandpas) came with a pad at the bottom to alleviate the brown. It would get dry and you just had to check it and rewet it. It needed to be changed every three months or so.
I don't know of other brands, but those are the ones I used and I and my kids, of course, liked them a lot. Especially on already cold nights to have a warm wipes onthe bottom rather than an icy one (my hands were happy too).
I thought they were worth it. I got a second for my second kid. You just have to be mindful of the browning and making sure that the wipes don't dry out or the pad on the new one dries out. If they did, I just added a tiny bit of water to the wipes and they were fine (or stuck them under the faucet) The pad had to be regularly wetted.
Congratulations on your newest family member!
they work....especially if your infant doesn't like the diaper changed. Makes a huge difference! I still use mine and is over 3 years old. It is the dex brand but I don't think it makes a difference.
Nah. You only need them if you're using diaper wipes from a diaper bag that's been left in the car when it's below freezing out. (Then you wouldn't have a diaper warmer with you anyhow!!)
If the wipe is cold, just hold it in your hand a little to warm it up then use it.
Personally, I think a cool wipe would feel better on a warmly diapered behind anyhow.
A wipe warmer is unnecessary. All It does is dry out a bunch of wipes a few times.
Here's what works for us. We keep an insulated thermos of hot water on our changing table. Each time we use a wipe, we wet it down. The water does go cold after a time, but usually stays tepid enough to use on baby bum... Good luck :)
Nope, don't need one. When you're away from the house you won't have it with you anyway. Save your money.
Prince Lionheart (can be bought at Walmart and Babies r Us) is made for both. I loved mine until I tried using a wipe solution with it. It made all of my wipes moldy for some reason. I'm surprised because solution is supposed to be antibacterial, so I'm not sure if I got a bad batch or what. It was nice having them already wet and ready to go. If I idd it again, I'd go back to just water. RIght now I just wet them in the sink.
i think they are useless, my grandbaby came with one and i used it for a week. he doesnt mind the non warmed ones at all. the warmed ones dry out and you have to use more. i did try to use woarm ones this winter and jsut wrapped a heating pad aroudn the package but it was more work that it was worth it. if they were meant to be warm then im sure the manufacturers would have made them to be warm.
Congratulations S.,
Of course you will get pros/cons opinions but really its a matter of what feels best for you and your little one and what will make the diaper changing process that much easier and well, enjoyable. I received a Prince Lionheart wipey warmer and I love it. I just like the feel of the wipes much better when they are warm, specifically when I'm changing my daughter's morning diaper. I've used mine for 2 years now and have never encountered a problem. Mine came with a little sponge that you can rewet when refilling the wipes. I don't wet it too much just enough to keep it saturated. (Never had a dry wipe with this brand.) I don't know if it makes a difference to my little one but it does make a difference for Me. I just feel better about putting a nice warm cloth on her tiny bottom. Honestly, kudos to the Mom's who have time to spray bottoms, hold wipeys in their hand to warm it up....I just want to change the diaper as quickly as possible and get her off the changing table for safety's sake...especially when the little ones get older and start to squirm around the changing table. You can always try it and if it doesn't work just return it. Buy it from Babies R'Us...they have an awesome return policy no questions asked. Don't forget to use a coupon. Oh, the Prince Lionheart brand comes with a few spongies and thereafter you can buy more at Babies R Us. The best advice I got as a new Mom was this: Follow your instincts and do what feels good for both you and your baby. Again Congratulations and enjoy every moment of your little one. Blessings!!!
Congrats on your adoption! I have a three year old daughter through adoption, and am in the waiting process for our second. I had a wipe warmer on my registry when my daughter was born, and I was told by several moms don't bother. I have seen first hand from others--some of the wipes get scorched at the bottom of the pack, and then are wasted wipes. My daughter did just fine without. Best of luck! Isn;t adoption awesome?
