Will They Come Back?

I am 22 years old and had to have laparoscopy surgery for serous cystadenoma Feb. 9 2012. I have since healed from the surgery but am worried now that it may be back. I have been having severe pains in the left side of my stomach that are very similar to the pains I had when I found out I had the cyst on the right side. I am very worried that the cyst has come back and is now on the other side and I fear I may have to get my girly organs removed from this one as well. Having this done again would most likely destroy any chances I have of ever having more children.... My question is, however, Can serous cystadenoma come back? or am I just being over paranoid? I don't want to go to the hospital and look like a fool because my mind is playing tricks on me. I thought this was over and done with but I may be wrong...

What can I do next?

Not to scare you, but in my personal experience, cysts do have a tendency to come back. Over the years I've had several removed, surface, not internal, but they just like cropping up somewhere else. If you're prone to cysts, and have had them before, they can, and sometimes do, come back. If things feel the same as they did the first time, then very definitely go get checked out.

Make an appointment with your GP before hitting up the ER though, it's cheaper at the very least. Hopefully your GP is competent and will listen to you, and take your history into account and get things sorted. But yes, definitely go see a doctor.

Yes they can come back. Some people are prone to developing cysts,i am one of those lucky people, i had 4 of them luckly only one had to be removed. Call your doc right away it could be scar tissue but if its not sometimes birth control can help to shrink them so you do not have to have surgery again and it can also keep them at bay. Good luck.

I don't know anything specific about your medical condition but please get checked. Never feel foolish about seeing a doctor if you are worried! They are experts and we are not - that's why we go. Get checked so you can either deal with it or put your mind at ease. Stress from wondering will not help anything!

It could just be some scar tissue. You would be surprised how much
pain that could cause. Get it checked out.

Hi, M:
As you know, a serous cystadenoma is a gland containing clear fluid.

You could have transferred pain from the right side to your left side from scar tissue. Lie down on your back. Where your incision is, press with your finger tip along the line of the scar. See if there is referred pain to your left side. If it is, then you have identified the cause of the pain. If there is no referred pain. Call your surgeon's office and talk to the nurse.
Good luck.
