Why Are Certain Words Hyperlinked?

I find it VERY annoying when I'm reading a question or answer and certain words are highlighted, underlined, and hyperlinked. In my mind I add extra emphasis to them when I read them. It makes for some very confusing sentences in my head.

It's their built in search engine. If you click on it you will have a search brought up of other Mamapedia articles related to that word. It's really a broad search and isn't any better than their useless search box at the top right hand corner of the page though.

Katrina is right. If you click on the word "reading" in your question, you will find a list of questions related to the topic of "reading." The hyperlinked words will bring up a list of questions related to that topic ... in theory.

I agree with Katrina. The search engine on this website is not really that good or helpful.

Some companies pay for the links. It's a form of advertising online.
