Where to Find CHEAP Maternity Clothes?

I am in desperate need of very cheap or free maternity clothes.
I am now in my 6th month of pregnancy and haven't been able to buy any maternity
clothes.
This pregnancy was very unexpected ( I was actually on the pill ) and so we're on a
very tight budget.

I've tried craigslist but everything I've seen is either too expensive or the people live way to far away. I don't have time to wait for Ebay....I need some ASAP!
If anyone knows where I can get some really cheap or free maternity clothes,
I'd LOVE to know. I'm not picky, just need something decent to get me through
the rest of my pregnancy.

TIA for any helpful info.

What can I do next?

Hi Natalie - I bought mine at Ross Dress for Less, Target, and Motherhood Maternity. And one thing I can recommend is NOT buying a lot of stuff. I think I spent about $200 for my pregnancy clothes - I got 1 pair jeans (@ Motherhood - great selection and good prices), black pants, and brown pants. Several v-neck t-shirts from Target, and a few fun clothes from Ross. The shirts can either be Maternity or stretchy and long. If you have suit jackets or sweaters to wear over the shirts for variety, that's a lifesaver. Since you're in your 6th month, becoming bored with your clothes shouldn't happen too soon. The pants are probably the most important at this point. Jeans will have an obvious stretchy waist band, but try to get pants where the stretchy waist and the pant material are close in color. I'm still since they fit ok as regular pants and my boy is 8 months old now.

I'm new to the area, and don't know what the thrift or consignment shops are like, but they might be helpful.

Also, if you're a member of a mom's group, let them know you need help. If you're not a member - find and join one - they're great support.

Good luck!

Hi!

I know that there are a few Thrift stores around that carry Maternity clothes. There is one in Plano off of K Ave. that offers maternity wear and there are also alot of childrens consignment that also offer maternity clothes. I would suggest Google to search for these. Ross is also a great place, they have some really cute tops for only 3 or 4 bucks!! Hope you find some great deals!!:)

N.,
I just spent $120 and got an entire wardrobe of clothes to last me until I have my baby. And the best part about it, is that I can still wear these clothes afterwards. I decided not to get "maternity" clothes, but bought items with empire cuts, long fitted shirts, tights, and loose pants. The only actual maternity items I bought were jeans.
I went to Forever 21 and Charlotte Reuse at the small mall over by the Galleria. I can't remember the name of the mall but it is about 2 blocks from the Galleria and known for its "cheaper" stores. I bought a bunch of tights and cute long sweaters, empire cut shirts and dresses, long long-sleeved fitted shirts(long enough to go over and cover my 8 mo prego tummy!) and comfy drawstring pants. I also bought a bunch of skirts and pants with the "fold over" top.
Once the baby is born, I can still wear most of these clothes.
So before going to a Materinty clothing store, try the cheaper end fashion stores and I'm SURE you'll find something! The long sleeved shirts i bought were only $5 each! Oh, and try Rainbow too!! I went in there and found a bunch of empire cut tops and dresses(the dresses I actually wear as shirts over tights!)for under $15 each.

Congrats. :]
i got all my clothes at old navy. They have really cute and cheap clothes. Their jeans dont have the elastic band and look normal. No one believed me that they were maternity. :] thats a good thing. Also have cute tops and jackets. Over all go there. I bought everything there.
Good luck :]

Hi N.,

First of all, CONGRATULATIONS!

Im in the last 6 weeks of my pregnancy and had the same issue. Motherhood Maternity has some really nice stuff that is affordable, as does Target (believe it or not!!) I found alot of cute tops and pants at both places for anywhere from $10-$25 per.

I hope this helps! Good luck!

When I was pregnant, the only thing I bought was a couple of bras. I was (and am) petite (size 2 or less) and I wore clothes that were a couple sizes too big such as stretchy leggings from target, hubby's golf shirts and sweaters large sweaters. Granted, I was not working outside the home so it was easier for me to be casual. My dress up outfits consisted of some type of loose legging, oversized shirt and a couple of dresssy vests I had at the time from GAP and Macy's.

Hopefully you might get a couple ideas from my experience.
