Where Is My Pee?

So I had stomach flu Tuesday-Wednesday. Starting Wednesday night I was re-hydrating. I knew I was dehydrated because my back muscles were spasming. All day Thursday I drank as much water as I could. This morning, still drinking. I've only peed like four times since Wednesday. And I'm 32 weeks pregnant, so this isn't normal. I was peeing like ALL the time. When I do pee, it's like... trickle... and that's lame.

This morning my pee was bright orange, even though I've been drinking a lot. What the heck? Where is my pee, and what is this bright orange stuff?

I'm seeing the OB today for a checkup, so I'll of course mention it to him then, but... any ideas??

What can I do next?

Your back was spasming because you have a kidney infection, not because of dehydration. Call your doctor's office and get seen today.

Back spasms and orange pee are signs of kidney infection.

Certainly talk to your ob. When I was pregnant (not as far along as you are) my daughter was situated such that she was blocking my bladder and I couldn't pee but I felt like I was going to burst.

I ended up in ER and wearing a catheter about 2 weeks until she shifted.

I agree that it sounds like you are not fully hydrated since your pee was orange... that is a sign of infection. Glad you see the Dr today!

Good luck

I would suggest drinking a powerade type drink as well to get your electrolytes back up to where they should be. Water cannot do that. Assuming there is no infection (please get this ruled out with a medical test!) your muscles will spaz and freak out without proper electrolyte balance.

Yeah I agree that you might have a kidney infection or a UTI. In fact, it could be a kidney stone...sorry to say. I just had my first kidney stone about a month ago and IT SUCKS! They are common while pregnant too. I didn't know I just thought I had an infection but my back hurt super bad and my pee was orange b/c there was blood in it. I would definitely let this be the first thing you mention to your doctor today!

If you were dehydrated it could have effected your kidneys and cause an infection. Orange in your pee is not usually a good sign.

Sounds like you haven't rehydrated enough yet to be back to square one. Definitely mention it to your ob.

When I'm loosing weight, 5 pounds or more per week, my urine changes color too. I go from yellow to orangish yellow.

My doctor said that was normal for loosing that much weight.

Good luck to both of you.

Your body was very dehydrated and is now filling back up. You still need to let your doc know right now that you have not peed but 4 times in 3 days. That is dangerous for the baby. Call them now. They may want you to go to the ER and get an IV of fluids just to make sure where you are.

sounds like an infection-see the doc as soon as possible-all the extra fluid is going to the baby to keep the little one happy and healthy-take care!

Tell your doctor - even if you weren't going in for a check-up, this would be worth a phone call. It's probably an infection.

Don't drink PowerAde and similar products - too much sodium anyway, and certainly for someone retaining fluids somehow. And too much sugar and dyes. Some of them have certain vitamins in them (with lots of flavors with different vitamins in each one), as if taking a vitamin in isolation is a good idea. They are garbage. If you want a healthy hydrating drink, there is one available direct from the manufacturer with no dyes, and it carries a patent which means they proved safety, effectiveness and uniqueness. But I don't think that's going to solve your immediate problem.
