When You Gotta go...how Do You Not?

Last question of the day I promise! I am 13.5 weeks pregnant and have to pee all the time! It's like I am at the end of my pregnancy(peeing wise). I get up at least once-usually twice in the night to go. I stop drinking liquids at 6 which stinks because I am SO thirsty and have no caffeine after 10am-it's like I am 3 years old! When I get up I can't get back to sleep easily. When I pee it's not even a lot. Do you girls know how to cut down on the bathroom trips during the night? I've tried ignoring the urges but I almost "lost it". Sorry if it's TMI but I never had this problem until the END of my pregnancies....TIA

What can I do next?

LOL, I am due next week and I have had this issue my entire pregnancy. At night, I get up every 2 hours. Everynight. No kidding. And my hubby snores so it is always hard to get back to sleep. I had similar issues with my first baby too. Sounds like you are doing all you can do already - limit liquids in the evening, etc. I dont think there is anything more you can do, we are just unlucky to have this pregnancy side effect. I hope it gets better for you though! My husband jokes I should just wear adult diapers and let it happen :0)

By the time I was in my 3rd pregnancy, I had a game plan, LOL!!

Because your uterus is pushing on your bladder, you always feel the urge to go. However, you rarely completely empty your bladder because of the position.

I used to sit there and rock myself back and forth (this works in your last few weeks of pregnancy too!) to make sure I was completely emptying my bladder, ESPECIALLY before bedtime, because no super pregnant woman wants to drag herself out of bed to pee! Sleep is a precious commodity those last few weeks, LOL!!

Make sure you have a clear path to the bathroom.

It was a third trimester thing for me with my first child, and it began for the first trimester with my second, so I hear you! I never gave up drinking at a certain time, and it sounds like you shouldn't bother, either. If you're going to have to get up 3 times a night, you might as well do it for a full bladder as a half-full one. Try to keep all the lights off so that you can sort of "sleep-walk" to the potty and back. Good luck!

I truly believe that having to get up during the night when you're pregnant is just training you for getting up in the night to feed the baby. Don't limit your liquid intake. You need to stay hydrated. Dehydration can actually bring on labor. I do think it's good that you are limiting your caffeine. I agree with the advise to keep a clear path to the bathroom and don't turn on the lights. I used to wish I could turn the toilet into a recliner/toilet and just sleep there and not have to get up when I had to go when I was pregnant. :) Best of luck to you.

If you are not drinking past 6 and you are not peeing much when you wake up in the night then I would say that its not your bladder waking you up but something else. I say this because I am 37 weeks pregnant and yes I pee all freakin day but at night I wake maybe 2 times and they are def. pees that need to happen because my bladder is full but I will also drink all through the night and if I empty my bladder before bed at say 11pm I will usually sleep until 3-4am before Im up again and then again at 6-7am. I suggest you try to find the source of your restlessness because it seems like something else is waking you and then you feel the urge to empty your bladder while away instead of ot actually being your bladder that is waking you from a deep sleep
Good Luck and congrats

I am at the end of my pregnancy and I spend most nights in the bathroom--all night long-lol. But during the day, the only thing I have figured out that helps is to stand up, sit down, stand up and lean forward -lift your belly a little to make sure there is no pressure on the bladder and then try and go again. Make sure you fully void each time. Good luck!

The only way to solve the problem is to deliver :) It's all the added pressure on the bladder and when the baby comes, the problem solves itself. I would cut out caffeine totally as it is a diurectic, but still drink lots of water.

Yah I remember those days, when pregnant with my kids.

Well, so I just made sure I didn't go anywhere that took a long time to get to, walking or driving and hoping I didn't get stuck in traffic when driving.
Its just pressure on the bladder. Makes you have to go.

I pee'd at all kinds of places. Even stores that the bathrooms were employees only and not for public. I'd ask the store clerks, telling them PLEASE I am preggers I NEED TO PEE and cannot wait. I can't even walk it is so bad.
They'd let me.
