When Should I Expect My Period to Return?

Hi. Anyone have an idea of when I should expect my period back? I stopped breastfeeding about three and a half weeks ago. I am starting to experience some tell tale period indicators (discharge (sorry), desire for chocolate!, etc.). Call me freaky but I am really ancy to get it back...I have, in a strange way, missed menstruating. I suppose I want to feel fertile as well as know that my body is readjusting to all of this change. I appreciate your thoughts. Thank you!

What can I do next?

With my first daughter, we breastfed until around 15 months. I didn't get my period back with her until I stopped nursing completely. I also did go back on the pill at 6 weeks (using micronor, very low dosage) and still never had a period, which quite frankly, was very nice.
My second daughter is now almost three months, and I started using the pill again at 6 weeks (same one I used with my first daughter). My period came back as soon as I started taking them! And it was 10 times worse than I have ever experienced in my life. I had the worst cramps and headache and had to use a heating pad for two days.
I guess my point is that every mom is different, and it's different with each child you have. Hope this helps :-)

I AM 29 AND STILL BF MY 4 MONTH OLD. BECAUSE OF COMPLICATIONS WITH MY PREGNANCY, MY OB WANTS NO CHANCE OF ME GETTING PREGNANT RIGHT AWAY. SO AFTER 6 WEEKS I WENT ON THE NUVA RING. ONE OF THE THINGS I LIKED ABOUT BF WAS NO PERIOD. WELL, BECAUSE OF THE RING, I GOT MY PERIOD THE SECOND MONTH. ugh! I DO LIKE THE RING THOUGH, VERY MILD AND I AM ONLY CRAZY FOR ONE DAY A MONTH, LOL I PERSONALLY HATE MY PERIOD SO I WOULD ENJOY NOT HAVING IT. ONCE YOU GET IT BACK, THERE IS NO ESCAPING IT!!!!!!! EVERYONE IS DIFFERENT. I HAVE HEARD OF MONTHS WITHOUT IT OR WHILE WOMEN WERE STILL BF. TAKE CARE

Shortly after I started solids I got my period, it was about 5 months after birth. Everyone is different and... watch out! You can be fertile even though you don't get a period... because remember that you ovulate first and get a period if the egg doesn't get fertilized after ovulation!!

I had to stop BFing around 8 weeks and got my period about 4-6 weeks afterwards. But from what I've heard it differs with all mothers. My friend who is still BFing he daughter got her period almost right after her body stopped "cleaning itself out" after the birth (about 4 weeks) and others I know go a year without one. Also birth control does affect it too--are you taking any? The mini pill with make it sporadic, but the regular pill (along with the patch and ring) will regulate it.
Regardless, most women I know got their period within 6-8 weeks after they stopped Bfing (but many sooner) so it seems you are right on time!

I think it's around 2 months. I showed symptoms for like a month before mine came back, including crabbiness and cramps. If you are anxious, you can see about getting on the pill. My doc said as soon as I stopped breastfeeding I could go on them if I wanted to.

My dr said it takes up to 3 months for the period to return after breast feeding. In my case it was 3 months to the day from when I stopped. So, I am sure it will come back soon. It is a good sign that we are still "working" when we have it. :) Good luck with your little one!

I was 36 when I had my son and had a c-section. I want to say it was about 2 months, maybe a bit longer before I started regular again.
