When Should I Expect My Cycle?

I am just about done weaning my one year old from breastfeeding, but have yet to have a menstrual cycle. With my first son, I didn't nurse him this long and always had one with him. This time is different, I nursed full time with my youngest and haven't had a cycle since he was six weeks old. I was wondering when I should expect my cycle to return? I am only nursing maybe once a day, so I guess I thought I would already have had one? Thanks for any advice!

I just got mine last week, about 10 weeks after I completely weaned my son. I weaned him at 8 m and he is now 10.5m. With my first son, it only took 6 weeks to get it after I weaned him. I hope this helps.

I didn't have any periods when nursing my baby for 15 months. It took about 3 or 4 weeks and it all came back. :( But the doctors said I was able to get pregnant even though I wasn't having periods. Ain't being a woman grand? :) Even in weaning my baby - no period until it was completely over and it was a good three weeks before it happened. I'm sure everyone is different, though.

Everyone is different. I nursed my first child for 7 months and never got my period back at all and just got pregnant again right away within 2 weeks of weaning

You know it is funny you should ask this question, I have been curious about the same thing! My little girl is 11 mths and I am still breastfeeding her about 3-5 times a day, and I haven't had a period yet. With my first child I breast fed up until about 8-9 mths but got my period when she was about 6 mths. With my 2nd child I breastfed him until he was a year but got my period when he was about 7 mths, now with my 3rd, like I said, non at all and she is 11 mths. I have taken a pregnancy test every month just to make sure because I cant believe how long it is taking to come back. Don't get me wrong, I am enjoying this, but I just have been suprised. I guess everyone is different, and it can change with each baby. Thanks for asking the question.
Have a great day!

My 1st was completely weaned by the time she was 12 months, but it took another 4-1/2 months for my periods to start. After my last baby, my period started exactly 4 weeks after she was weaned. Your body just responds differently each time.

Yep, everyone is different. I nursed my first until 15 months, but my cycle was back at 12 months and I was able to get pregnant 2 months later while still nursing her at bedtime.

I'm still nursing my 15mo and didn't get my period back until he was 14months.

After I completely quit breastfeeding my daughter it took two months for mine to come back. It also took a few cycles for my period to be somewhat normal. Everyone's body is different but that is what happened with me.
