My son is nine months old and i am just not sure when i should be getting his changing table out of there? He isn't too long for it yet but he is really active. When is a good time to be taking it down? I mean i don't know now where i am supposed to put all the diapers and other changing essentials if i do get rid of it.... I guess i am just asking what everyone else may have done at this stage?
Thank you all very much for all your ideas and input. It is very much appreciated. I did toy around with the idea of using it for storage. However i did end up taking it down. His toys are just getting bigger and i really don't have much space (we share a bedroom in my parents home). It was wonderful hearing all the ideas about what to do with it though :) thank you all so much

My daughter is 13 months old and i still use it. I just can't leave her alone on it because most likely she wonht be there when i tunr naround.But i think you shouldnt get rid of it you can always buse it to put toys or other things too.
I kept mine until they were out of diapers.I think having the table is easier than using the bed & floor. As long as you are using it keep it. And as long as you can keep a hand on him while changing him he should be fine - they are very squirmy no matter where you put them - I liked my table since it put him at the right level for changing.I'm sorry to hear about your divorce - I'm divorced from my kids father as well. If he is active,I wouldnt use it. Safety comes first. As for the diapers and such, I had one of those rubbermaid 3 drawer stands that I kept it all in. It does the trick, but doesnt take up much room.

If he starts climbing on it and it poses a safty risk then get rid of it. Trust your insticts, they would do you wrong.
my son is almost 17 months and mine is still up. i didnt take it down with my first untill i didnt need it anymore, ie in the potty traning stage.

Can see by the 'little about me' bit that you're doing it tough....raising babies is tough enough let alone trying to do it on your own and with huge emotional/financial stress that divorces deal you....i hope that situation gets better for you really soon...as for the change table.. i've been travelling with my son since he was 8 mths and would give anything for a change table (mostly for my back)...as we change on beds and floors, my son (now 14mths) loves to try and get up mid change and run away... I don't think the table needs to go yet, babies just hit a certain age and start wiggling, solution is toys, talcum powder, rash cream... anything that they can hold and will keep them occupied for a min...keep the table and save your back instead!!

My son is 26 months and I still use the changing table. He's about the size of it, but its very confortable for my back to use it; the only thing though is that you can't leave him alone or turn around at all, because he moves a lot now and can fall.

i think you can take it down or use the changing table to put things on at this point. I have 2 kids and they were pretty big boys so I did not use the changing table when they were 9 months. I used the crib mainly and just put a diaper pad down. i also used my bed too. Hope this advice helps. I did keep my changing table and used it to put things on for the baby.
If it worries you then stop using it but I used the changing table with my son until diaper changes became an issue and that was well over a year old. In other words, he'd throw fits when it was diaper changing time and I had to get creative to get them on. I never took it down though. I used it for his toys and such things and now I'm using it with my daughter. If you have him on the changing table just be sure to keep one hand on him at all times and it should be fine. Good luck!
IF HE IS AS ACTIVE AS YOU SAY, IT WOULD BE A GOOD IDEA NOT TO PUT HIM ON IT, BECAUSE OF DANGER TO HIS LITTLE SELF IF HE FALLS.
WHEN MY SON GOT TOO BIG FOR HIS, I GOT ONE OF THOSE NAPTIME MATS FROM WALMART(@$10), AND GOT ONE OF THOSE PLASTIC CONTAINERS WITH THE DRAWERS ON IT (IT COMES IN DIFFERENT SIZES) TO PUT THE DIAPERS ON, AND TOILETRIES ON. GET SOME CLOROX WIPES TO WIPE OF MAT, OR USE A BLANKIE ON IT. THAT WAY YOU CAN WASH THE MAT. NOT ONLY THAT BUT THE CONTAINER TOOK UP LESS SPACE THAT THE CHANGING TABLE.
my son's crib came with a changing table attached to it, and I never used it. Instead, I removed the mat and used it to put his diapers, wipes, lotion, and things that I need to get him dressed and such. I always changed his diaper in his crib, or on the floor in the livingroom *I have a basket with some diapers, wipes, toys, and blankets for easy access*. I actually got more used out of it in the long run as a shelf because even after he grows out of diapers, we can still put his lotions and things, as well as some books up there for storytime before bed. Plus, you spent money on a changing table, if you can use it as a shelf to keep that stuff on there, then save the extra cash you would have spent buying something else! It may be ten or twenty bucks here and there, but as we all know, a few bucks can make a difference!

If he is active and you are concerned then I would stop using it. When my daughter was done with hers, I got a really cute little shelf unit with baskets in it to keep all of the supplies in...then I would just change her wherever we were (usually on the floor in her room).
Hi J. My name is C. and im a mother to a 2 1/2 yr. old boy! In response to ur question i believe that when they are ready to roll around u shouldnt use the changing table without you being there to supervise! BUT I still think that the changing table is still a good piece of furniture to have around for a long time! As a matter of fact i still have my son's changing table in the room! Like u said its a good place to store the diapers etc... I just make use out of it even though my son out grew it a long time ago! So depending on what kind of changing table u have i would keep it and make ur own use out of it!

Hi J., does your changing table have a pad that your son lays on, if so you can take it off and lay it on the floor and change your little wiggler. My son is 4 now and he was just like your son so I put the changing table in the attic and just used the pad on the floor and I still used the diaper pail but because I was now having to change him down on the floor I used grocery plastic bags to put the diaper in and then tied it up and put it in the pail after I turned my wiggly son loose and this made changing him easyer.
