Almost 2 years! On the downside, I did breastfeed him sometimes at night...but hey, I learned to practically do this in my sleep.
Enjoy!!

I am 8 months post-partum. I am exclusively breastfeeding my son, who does get some baby food and solids.
I still haven't got my period back. I know this is normal, but am curious to see what things have been like for other Moms.
Thanks!!

Hi T.,
Every one is different I had my period last month and I am breast feeding my 6 month old still 5-6 times a day. on a big eating day and 3-4 on a growing day. so everyone is diiferent. Don't let it sneak up on you. I didn't expect it and only had these huge pads from the hospital. :) Hope it takes a break for a while... A. V.
I had my daughter in November of last year and just got my period back in September. I stopped breastfeeding in July because I couldn't keep up with her demand. I have only had two periods since.
I breastfed for 5 months, and then got my period 2 months after I stopped. It's been a few months since the first period and it still isn't totally back on schedule, which is a common thing as well. It can take a few months for your body to get back into it's old routine, considering that it was on hiatus for 9 months! Just wait it out, it will happen eventually!
I was almost 10 months post-partum before mine started again after my son (he nursed to 16 months old.) I was 9 months post-partum when it started after my daughter (who weaned herself at 8 months.) So, it is very normal.

Mine came back at 6 weeks while exclusively breastfeeding. But I hear stories from women who breastfeed for 2 years and never once got a period during that time. I say consider yourself lucky!
Hey T.-
So funny to hear everyone's responses. I only exclusively breast fed until Kylee was 8 months old, but I got my period back after 4 months. Every woman is different and unfortunately breast feeding doesn't stop you from starting your period, regardless of what other women say. I not lived it with my daugter, but am living proof from my mother.
Lucky you!
Maybe this time it will stay away longer for me!
Talk to you soon!

I know this is kind of late but its because I am new to the website. Ok so for me with my first daughter I didn't get it back until I stopped breastfeeding her at about 3 months, and even at that I still skipped alot. And now with my 2nd daughter she was born in August, after I had her I bleed for about the entire 6 weeks postpartum, and I have been getting them every month as well. I fiqured that since I did not get them with my first daughter I would not get them with my second one either, boy was I wong. She is now almost 5 months old and I am still breastfeedind and givind her some rice oatmeat to get her started on solids, so I guess you should consider your self lucky. Everyone is different and every postpartum is different as well.
My son is 17 months and stll b-feeding. I just recently got it back a couple weeks ago, when he was not nursing as much, from 4 times a day to 2-3 times.

Hi T.,
First I would like to say, "you lucky thing you!" I just got my period for the first time almost 6 months post-partum, which was a little more than a week ago. Bummer! I was hoping to go for a while longer, but because I had to go back to work, I wasn't able to breastfeed exclusively anymore. I know, though, that my sister-in-law went for almost two years without having a period or using any BC pills, and she was breastfeeding exclusively, as well. She had gotten her period for the first time just before her little girl turned two, and she and my brother thought they would try to get pregnant again. Well, they did immediately! Hope you're lucky enough to go for as long, if that's what you're hoping for!
I breastfed until my daughter was about 13 months old and I didn't get my period until about a month or so after.
Hi T.!
I know I am not as far into postpartum as you are, but I am breastfeeding as well. At about 2 1/2 months, I introduced formula just a little bit, and I started spotting. Now, at 4 1/2 months, my son as gotten the tummy flu, and I've been strictly breastfeeding. And I have seen no bleeding at all, and it's been almost 2 weeks. I have read that as long as you are breastfeeding, you will have no significant period.
Hope this helps!

Just to add to the fun- I'm still breastfeeding my 13 month old daughter, and going on 2 years, period-free! Woohoo! Nope, don't miss my Aunt Flo at all. How the heck did Britney Spears get pregnant again so quickly? She must not have been breast-feeding at all- which just gives me one more reason to dislike her. ;)
T. women do not start their menses until AFTER they STOP
breastfeeding.

No need to be concerned. If you are stricktly breastfeading you may not get your period back until you are done doing so Breastfeeding is natures way of saying you are not reading to have another baby yet because you are not done with the first one. Your period will come back probably within the first 6 weeks of you stopping breastfeeding. I am still breastfeeding and have spotted a couple times, but that is only because I have birth control, otherwise the doc said I may not have done that. Mind you when I first spotted it wasn't until my son was 6 months old.
If you have any other worries or concerns do a little research on the net and definitely ask your doc or a couple . It is always best to get a couple of opionions. I hope this was helpful!!

Married working mother of a 7 1/2 month old boy.
It was well over 15 months after I gave birth! Isn't that a great side effect of breast feeding!!!
Hello T.,
I have a 18 month old and a 4 month old. My periods came back right away and I exclusively breastfeed also. I guess everyone is different.
I wouldn't be concerned if I were you, unless you think you might be pregnant again.
T.,
I didn't get my period until 2 months after I stopped breasfeeding. I never exclusively breastfed my son, since I never produced enough milk for him. He was on breast milk & formula for 4 months.
Here is when my period came back with each child...
#1 I BF for only one week, my period came promptly at 4 weeks.
#2 I BF for 17 months and I got my period back at 9 weeks.
#3 I am currently BFing and I got my period back at 6 months.
It's different for everyone and as you can see, different for me with each child. Enjoy not having you period while it lasts! ;)
