My son started to using an adult-size/full-size pillow... a soft one... when he was 12 months old. Helped tremendously. Particularly if he was already sleeping when I would transfer him to the crib.
Hi moms,
I have adhered to all the SIDS warnings and have only put a light small blanket in my son's crib with no pillows/bumpers/stuffed animals, etc. He is now 14 months old and every morning I find that he has bunched up the blanket to form a pillow and cuddles his head on it. Is it safe to put a pillow in his crib now?

AWWWWW lol. I'm sure he'll be fine. Maybe you can get a really flat pillow, or a kids' sized pillow. My son does seem to sleep better with a pillow. I don't use one in his crib, but I do use a plush throw that I got from Target for $10 to cover his mattress (it's his blankie). But he loves diving his body into a pillow at night after a bath...seems very comforting to him. My son is 18 months.
The ban on pillows in the crib is for the period when babies don't have enough head control and/or neck strength to get out of a potentially suffocating situation. A 14-month-old is well past that, so don't worry!
That is so cute! He's definitely old enough to add additional blankets or a small pillow. Stuffed animal with only stitching for the face. Nothing he can bite off and swallow.
