when I need anything I go to Amazon.com and type in the product and compare reviews. If you search for "digital point and shoot cameras" it will bring up tons of them.
Having said all that, my niece just bought the Sony Cybershot and it is a fabulous camera. It has tons of features described here:

I love our Panasonic Lumix. We've had a couple models. Our current model is a little older.
It is fantastic!
It's small without being too small. Very simple point and shoot. Ours can record video in HD. It does an amazing job of photographing fireworks and in low light. It does a great job of getting our 3 always on the move kids. You can take pictures in autoburst so you are less likely to miss the shot. It's done an amazing job of photographing items on display in glass cabinets in low light in museums etc too.
It gets great ratings from Consumer Reports too.

Maybe your camera's take good pictures and you are not on the proper settings. Try reading the owners manual for sports settings.

If the camera is taking dark images, check the ISO for the time of day.

If you are trying to take sports photos at night, you are asking a lot of the camera.

Best camera in the world will take blurry &/or dark pics if its settings aren't right for what you want it for.

Try having a camera-guru change the aperture (how fast the shutter "blinks", the faster the setting the more it 'grabs' a moving target) & ISo (how much light it grabs) settings for you.
