What to Do with Baby's Used Clothes

If you do want to give the clothing away rather than sell it, you can offer it on Freecycle.org. Although you won't get a tax receipt, you may be helping someone who can't even afford to shop at Salvation Army. Trust me there are such families.
If you decide to store the clothes, maybe use those space-saving bags.

I would save them until the next just between friends sale comes back around which is in march you decide how much to sell them for and tag them but they do all the work. When i sold some of my son's things i made over $800,you can get more this way then selling to consigment store and the stuff that does not sale you can choose to donate or pick it up and hang on to it til the next sale. The sale comes twice a yr spring and fall look them up jbfsale.com the are great.

We have a Mission Store at our church for the homeless. They have clothing available for kids and adults and even work clothes for interviews/work-dress. We go to First United Methodist Church-downtown Fort Worth. That's what I do with some of my child's clothing.

I also donate some to United Community Centers (there is 3 of them in Fort Worth). They are located in low income areas and it is similiar to the Boys and Girls Club, however they teach kids about God and Religion. They have a clothing closet and always need clothes and hangers there. It is a neat place, we've donated our time to volunteer there with our Women's group at church. They also give out food to families that need it. They help the kids with their homework and work with the schools.

In addition, we are Foster Parents and All Church Home has a clothes closet for Foster Children. They always need donations, many of these kids come with no clothes or very little clothing. The clothing closet is for foster parents when they first receive a child. If you would like for me to take them, I can pass them on to our Foster Agency also.

With my Son's clothes, I keep the ones that family have given us and really cute ones that I want to save.

I've tried Kid to KId/Mudpuppy and they don't give you very much for the clothes. Just Between Friends you get more money, however the next sale is in the Spring. Just Between Friends, you have to print a tag/label on each piece of clothing. It is more work than a consignment store. However, you get 65%-70% back to you. You get more sometimes if you volunteer to help out at the sale. If you have the time to make the tags and get your clothes ready, then you could do the sale in the Spring. If you need the extra cash, then I would do the consignment sale with Just Between Friends or Divine Consign (this is another sale). If you don't need the money or don't have the time to sell your things, then I would definitely donate them.

My sister has had great success with Once Upon a Child. You don't get what you paid, but you get more than you would as a garage sale price. She got eight dollars and some change for just two outfits. Also, they pay you up front for the clothes, you don't have to wait for them to sell them.

I have two boys. One born in July and the other in Oct. I used a bunch of it a 2nd time even though the seasons where off. Most of it was in great shape so I decided to keep it. Glad I did. I packed it up in large bins by size. Once the clothes became too small and would no longer be used I sold it by the lot on Craig's list with great success. Nice thing about Craig's is that they come to you and with cash in hand plus you pick the time they come.

I have a garage sale. Those consignment sales and stores are great if you have the time. I am a working mom of three with a husband who travels, so I don't have the time to price everything and then take here ther and everywhere. I in fact am having a garage sale this weekend. I usually have one twice a year. Once my kids grow out of their clothes I just keep stockpiling them and then have one big garage sale with old toys, outgrown clothes, etc. It gives me a chance to clean the house out for the winter and spring time.
I have sold clothes at Once Upon A Child, and did Ok. There was ALOT that they would not take. Understandably they are a little picky on what they will take and will not take.
You might want to save them just in case, especially if you are planning to have another, you just never know.

I think the salvation army/goodwill are great places; however, I like to give to domestic violent shelters or other shelter's where it's given to the people. I know goodwill doesn't charge people that much to buy the items, however, a lot of women who leave domestic violence have nothing, they just want to live in a safe place with their children, so they may leave all of their belongs behind for that safety. It takes a lot for them to leave and just have faith. It's wonderful when they get there and they don't have to worry about clothing for their children.
I also seriously believe, when we give to others, it will be return to us, we reap what we sow...

On another note, I also like to keep my babies clothes, the ones they wore home from the hospital, maybe for a special occasions or something that looked really cute on them. I know my sister recently gave me some of her kids clothes; but she gave me back my older son's (11 year old) pants/sweats that all of her boys wore and now my youngest, last (2 year old) is wearing. It was cool, it made a full circle back, I think I'll keep them for when one of them have kids... My mom kept a couple of my baby dresses...

Try a site called GumdropSwap (http://gumdropswap.com). You can swap from anywhere in the US by sending the clothes your kids outgrow to this kids boutique in CT. An option if you want to get some value out of all the money you spent instead of flat out donating. As long your things are in good condition they don't turn down anything because of brand, size or season. They take everything unlike resale store like Once Upon a Child! They give you points to shop on the website and send the clothes that fit your kids. It's great if you don't have time, patience or know how to do consignment, Ebay, craigslist, tag sale, etc.

Sell them first because they won't take everything then donate the rest to the Salvation army thats what I always do!

I saved just one tub of my favorite clothes, clothes that held up well, or some of the basic staple items that can be costly to replace (like jeans for boys or socks / jackets / bathing suits) and put the rest in a garage sale.

If you have some nice stuff, I'd sell those on ebay. I've seen used Gymboree clothes go for a lot more than at garage sales. If I don't have a 3rd child, that's probably what I'll do with most of what I saved.

I did very well at a used clothing store on Camp Bowie called Rugrats Resale. Its in the same shopping center as the 99 cent store. They didnt take some stuff which I thought was strange but I came out better than I think I would have anywhere else. I still have some clothes I need to get rid of. Also, if you do an in store credit,you get more.

I picked maybe one or two things that I really liked of his and put it with the rest of his baby things I was saving. The other stuff I just donated to someone who really needed it. Once Upon a Child or Kid to Kid hardly gives you anything for the clothes so it's better just to donate them to someone who really needs them.

I had two boys 5 years apart. Saved everything and used pretty much everything. I'd box your stuff and put it in the attic for now. You can always donate later.

Try turning all that stuff they've outgrown into money at stores you always shop at, like Target and Walmart. Check out www.Zearly.com. You can have them come get your hand-me-downs and they'll give you points for anything that is still in good condition. You can use your points to buy other cloths or save them to get gift certificates to other great stores! Best part is, they send you a bag to pack it in and then send UPS to your doorstep, so you don't really have to do a thing!!!
