my maternity leave is going to be up in less than two weeks, and i'm expected to go back to work full time. i can't imagine how i'm going to leave my two month old with his grandmother all day, every day. i haven't been away from him for more than a couple hours, and the idea of going back to work really sucks. my five year old is still adjusting to his brother, and i'm afraid that me being gone all day is going to impact his behavior. he's gotten used to me being here too. any advice would be helpful...don't know what i'm going to do...

What can I do next?

L.- I feel for you. I refused to work fulltime after I had my kids. We had to adjust they way we lived to accommodate a lesser income. I work a part-time job around my husbands schedule. I'm not away from my kids for more than a few hours at a time. And when I get home I am SO happy to see them. I actually look forward to going to work. Its a time for me to be with other adults and do something other than wipe noses and change diapers.
I would suggest looking at different arrangements to make sure you have the maximum amount of time with your kids.
If I worked fulltime I know I could have a nicer car, nicer clothes, nicer things...But in the long run the most important thing is time with my kids, so I make it work.
Good Luck!!

I remember how stressful this time was. I was lucky because I got almost 3 months before I had to return to work. Which in some ways made it even more difficult. Definatly talk to your husband about the possiblity of taking off more time. Also discuss the problem with your boss. Some places will work with you, some won't. If your job is not gogin to be receptive to the problem, but you and yoru husband decide you can financially survive without the second income for another month or so there is nothign saying you can't quit your current job and find another one that is more compassionate to your situation.
Yes children are extremely resiliant and adapt quickly to the situation, but it's more about your own comfort level. If you don't feel you are ready to go back, adn you feel you need more time with both kids, discuss it with those people that have a say in the matter and make the decision that gives you the best option. Mothers intuition is important and you shouldn't ignore it.

Your children will love you and hate you no matter what you do. So do what works for you. If you can afford to work from home do so-if not then you should know your children will adapt a lot quicker than you think to their new situation.

If going back to work is a must, I would definately talk to your employer about starting out you return with half days. My boss did this for maybe a month when she returned and I did it for 2 weeks when I returned from maternity leave. It definately helps relieve some of the stress on you and your children.

I saw your message about wanting to find a home-based business. I started mine with Arbonne skincare about 6 months ago. This company is rated #1 with the Direct Seller's Assoc. and has been around and growing for 27 years. The products truly are amazing and their baby care line is the best!! I love that make my own hours and can be home alot too!!
My team is doing great, I have already promoted to Area Manager and my next promotion, I get my own brand new white Mercedes-Benz! This is a completely legit company. Now is the time to jump in. I will help you get started and show you how I have been successful. There are opportunity meetings and trainings that are FREE and I have not lost any money on anything with this company!! I've only made a bunch!! Also, if you have anyone else interested, I can set you both up to start your own team. Call me at ###-###-####. J.

Hi L.,

I went back to work full time when my daugther was 5 months old. I actually had her start daycare the the week before I had to return to work. This let me make sure I had enough time to get ready in the morning and get her ready. While she was at daycare I tried to keep myself busy. I actually went and got my nails done. It was nice to have some "me" time before going back to work. I have been back to work for 5 months now. We are all managing great. I feel I am excited to see her when I pick her up from daycare or Nannys and we have the rest of the evening together. Good Luck. Take it one day at a time.

You say you're "expected" to go back to work full time...are you expected to because thats what you need to do to pay bills, or does your family/job expect you to? I went back to work part time when my son was 2 1/2 months old, and I cried the first time I left--it doesn't get much easier....but it does get me out of the house and making a little bit of money.

Hi, Im from NJ-- a work at home mom to b/g twins!! HAve you ever heard of a Co. called Arbonne... Take a look and contact me if you have any questions..its great and it lets me stay home with my kids. my website is:
www.deborahgraber.myarbonne.com

What if there was a way to start a home-based business, just like more than 50 million households did last year, and participate in a $100 billion industry that allows you to:

• Do something you already know how to do
• Work alongside your main job until you've created a large enough secondary income
• Blend family, friends and fun with work and income, allowing more time for both
• Determine your daily activities; instead of someone else determining them for you
• Begin with minimal start up expenses, unlike expensive franchises and other small businesses
• Take advantage of tax savings offered to
small businesses

• Would you like to have more time and money for your family?
• Do you value having creative control over your life and work?
• Would you like to benefit from the advantages of owning your own business?
• Do you care about others and want to make a positive difference contributing to people's lives?

If any, or all, of the above are true for you, Arbonne International might just be what you've been looking for.
