What Should My Workout Regimen Be Next Week?

Next week (Mon-Thu) I don't have to be at work until 9:30. I work until 6, get home around 6:30, have dinner with the family, their bedtime is 7:30. I am getting re-started with a workout regimen (had to take a break because of bad knees/no pool access) so I really want to keep up with a daily workout. I am absolutely not an evening exerciser. There is a gym at work, and I have an elliptical and weights in the (cold) garage at home. Here are my choices as I see it:
1. get up early, bundle up and work out in the garage, be showered and dressed for work by the time the kids get up. Pros: get to spend time with family in the morning, a little more time to get ready for work. Cons: have to go out in the supercold spidery garage to work out; history has shown I have a way of talking myself out of getting up for this workout when the alarm goes off.
2. get up early, go to gym before work, shower at gym. Pros: I am more likely to actually do this. Not cold, not spidery. Cons: Less time with the kids, probably I would look a little sloppier at work.
You know, looking at my pros and cons list, I think I am leaning toward sucking it up and working out in the cold garage in the morning next week. So maybe my real question is: What are some ways I could force myself out of bed to work out?
Thanks!

What can I do next?

Why not get a space heater for the garage? We have them all through the house (they're pretty safe these days, look at Vornados), and while you warm up - leave your sweats on - and let the garage warm up too.
It tends to work pretty quickly with one of those, so when you're ready to strip down to your workout gear, the garage won't suck.

Just remember...it takes 2 weeks to form a habit. If you can make it for 2 weeks, you'll be good.

I'd go to the gym there isn't much that I could talk myself into working out in in the cold, spidery garage.

I don't have much for suggestions on the encouragement to work out as I lack working out myself, plus I need a workout buddy to encourage me.

But I suppose you just have to keep reminding yourself about your ultimate goal....and remember that after you get into a routine of it..you'll actually start feeling better.

I am right there with you! For me, I tend to (once i drag myself out of bed) put pictures of the beach where I can see them while I work out. We have a trip planned coming up and I want to feel comfortable in a swimsuit this year!
Find a pic of something to inspire you. Maybe we should both place them by our alarm clocks? ;)
Good luck!

Hi, S.:
If you have problems with your knees, use knee supports.

Good luck.

Is there a way you could make your corner of the garage a little nicer and more welcoming? I like the heater idea. Maybe add a piece of nice carpeting or a cool rug under the equipment, a tv, plants, pictures, and well, you get the idea. Just try and make it more inviting.
