A dear friend's daughter had major surgery over a week ago (out of town) and are home now. I would like to bring something nice she can keep (instead of flowers or candy) as a gift, but have no idea what 17yo girls like or do. Her recovery time is 2-3 months.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

If she has an IPOD, maybe you could get an I-tunes gift card so she could download her favorite music.
I-tunes gifts are great and Bath and Body works has their summer sale going on so you can get some great stuff at low prices. Or order her lunch and have it delivered etc.
I second the Itunes. My 13 yr old has her phone and ipod full of them.

I 2nd the iTunes.... it'll keep her busy and it'll last! It's a very good gift. Can't tell you how many times I wish my daughters had more iTunes gift cards from Christmas because they are always hitting me up to buy them more tunes!
I'd do a netflix membership if she's going to be stuck at home much - but I don't have cable.

Maybe she is not a great reader, so go to Half-Price Books and find a exciting biography of one of her idols, a beautiful teen love story. Browse the new books with her interests in mind. New do-it-yourself hairstyles, makeup and nails. Does she love dogs, cats, horses?
My object is to encourage the love of reading. If she already loves to read she will love a new book and if she just reads when she has to--try to find something she will WANT to read.

Agree with Sherry. Also, my son is 17, 17 year old girls like nice smelling lotions (bath and body, victoria's secret).
How about some great chic flicks! Any shows she liked watching that you can get the series of? Maybe get her NetFix for those months.
If she is able to move around some great spa stuff would be great so she could pamper herself along with some cozy pj's and comfy slippers.
