Chicco KeyFit 30 is the best infant seat I have found. They have an excellent safety record and are SO easy to install correctly. I absolutely love mine!
I have heard and read wonderful things about the Chicco KeyFit 30 and the Britax Chaperone both. We had a Graco with our son and an Evenflo with our daughter and I was not impressed with either of those, so those brands are out of the running! I was thinking maybe a Maxi-Cosi, Britax, or Chicco. What do/did you have and do you love it or hate it?
I do have to say I love my Chicco stuff. We have a 3.5 year old Chicco Cortina stroller that I just love and it still works like a dream after 2 kids, and a Chicco Polly Highchair that I also love too. So I know they have excellent quality ect. We also had the Chicco walker when my son was younger, I loved that thing too! Maybe I could be a spokesperson and get paid! Haha.
Janie L- You made me laugh with that one! I actually asked another car seat question last night about extended rear-facing.

Britax is the best, hands down.
Oh Mrs R.! You are brave talking about car seats again today on Mamapedia! ;-)
We have the Chicco travel system...

I love it!!! My son is 15 mo. old and transitioning to his big boy carseat this week. I have NO complaints about the seat...
The travel system I like...the only thing I don't like about the stroller is the storage space below...especially when you put the carseat in it when they are infants...everytime I needed something from the diaper bag, I would have to take the carseat out...yes, annoying! However, the stroller pushes nice, and is well built. So you take the good! :)
I know that Chicco makes an infant seat that goes up to 30 lbs. (ours goes to 22 lbs.)...honestly, I can't imagine leaving a baby in the infant seat up to 30 lbs. Our friends have the 30 lb. but I think they had to change seats well before their daughter got to 30 lbs. because she just out grew it.
I recommend Chicco! :)
I had a graco and liked it. I haven't had the other brands. My suggestion to you is to go to babies r us and play with the seats, taking them on and off the base, adjusting them, undoing the buckles, ask if you can try them in your car. The best seat for you is one that fits your car, fits your child, and one that is easy for you to use so that it will be used correctly each and every time you use it.
We have two Britax and LOVE them. I wouldn't get anything else for us at this point. Shop the sales (I think we got them at AlbeeBaby.com for the same amount as the others) and you can do really well!
We used the Chicco Keyfit 30 with our daughter and plan to use it with our son when he arrives in 3 weeks. Love it and it's held up well!
Edited to add: I really like the material used on the Chicco Keyfit--it washes really well and still looks new after 3.5 years.
I loved our Chicco Keyfit 30 and have passed it to my sister for her son. I'm a fan of Chicco in general.
We also have a Britax Marathon for each of our cars for my daughter. I'm very happy with them, too.
We used our Chicco Keyfit 30 with both kids and felt it was wonderful. Just recently, I found out a study was done on carseats to test toxicity. Supposedly the Keyfit is one of the best rated for LOW toxicity and the Britax (the convertible seats we use) were rated super HIGH. So, for infant seat, go Chicco and then you will already have a stroller to go with it.
We have a Chicco for the infant seat, and when they outgrow it we go to the Britax Marathon. I love the Chicco, so easy to use. I have used my sister in law's Graco or something, and it's unbelievable the difference in ease of use and quality. We used it for all 3 kids, and it still looks and works perfectly.
We have Britax Chaperone......it is GREAT it goes to 30lb and 32".....I have a friend who's daughter tried it out the other day....she will be TWO next month and she still fits.....talking about getting your $$$ worth:) Our baby is almost 10 months and loves her car seat!!!!!!
