My 10 1/2 month old DD has a full head of hair (save for a bald spot in the back!) and Ive trimmed it 4 times, but it is very difficult to trim b/c she wont sit still. Its again hanging in her eyes, all of it seems to fall forward & its thick and long. I actually make baby hair clips & stuff, and have tons of stuff, but she really hates me touching, combing, washing her hair. Its a daily battle, and the easiest solution is a pigtail on top but it looks ridiculous. What did/ do you do to tame babies hair? Im going to give in to cutting it, but its never even and because its so straight it is really obvious. But it drives me nuts.
I put a crochet hat or a crochet head on her head and waited for it to grow long enough to but back in a parted of ponytail on the top of the head.
Many mothers make the mistake of cutting bangs straight across the forhead which usually ends up looking blunt and un even. To cut bangs you take a small triangular section, measure how long you want them (normally cut a little lower then eyebrows bc they will shrink some) put your middle and pointer finger at the right lenght then left the hair straight up. When the hair is lefted straight up above the head you cut straight across. This puts small layers in the bang so it doesnt look blunt, instead they look wispy. My daughter has new hair coming in under the bang which is a good length so I pull the rest back and give her a bam bam pony tail right on top of her head! I use the small colored cotten pony tail holders, they are the cheap ones. I didn't think they would hold at first bc baby hair is so fine but they work well and they are so small that you only have to twist it about 2 times to make sure it's tight. Ive learned to do that very quick and then distract her so she forgets about it! lol Good Luck!
For me, it's my girl's bangs that drive me nuts! I can't bring myself to get the cute blond curls in the back cut! :)
Anyways, starting at around 8 months old, the ladies at our daycare sit down with all the kids every day after nap and comb their hair and do cute styles (multiple pig tails, barettes, even french braids) and the kids just get used to it! Once I saw all the cute things THEY were doing, I decided that I could do them too! So, I get my girl to sit on the bathroom counter every morning while I comb and fix her hair. I decide how many ponytails and let her pick the color of rubber bands and she gets to pick the barettes to hold her bangs. My usuals are 2 pigtails just above her ears with the top half of hair--sometimes I'll pull those down and make 2 pigtails on the back pulling up the rest of her hair. Or, I pull all the hair into 1 ponytail and use barettes to hold up the shorter pieces (bangs & neck).
If your girl fights you, just be patient. It may take a while, but eventually she'll learn that this is just one of the things that y'all do to start your day. :) You can either do it first thing in the morning or right when she gets up from nap (if she's on a schedule).

Sorry if I'm not much help, my daughter had no hair to speak of until she was about 2!!
Try having a professional cut it, or someone else who would know what to do, while you entertain her. My kids respond different to haircuts if someone other than me or my husband does it. With my 2 year old if I try to buzz his hair it's a crazy fight, but if my mom does it he sits and smiles.
Stop cutting it for a while. Try cutting a tomato or lemon and put a hand towel over it, then twist the bottom of the towel, squeeze it so some juice comes out and wipe her hair back with it, like in a combing motion, it works like gel but holds up best.
I took both my kids to Cool Cuts for Kids as babies (there are several of these types of places all over where I live). When you take them to a place that specializes in haircuts for kids, it makes it easier. The hairdressers are trained to deal with little ones. They also get to sit in a car or airplane with a tv in front of them to distract them. (or if your daughter gets upset,she can sit in your lap) It's around $15-$20 for a haircut and definitely worth it. You can get you daughter's hair styled so that you don't have to fuss over it everyday. I'm sure your area has a place like this near you.

aww...I love the pigtail on top look on babies. I used it on my girls as their hair was growing out. Hopefully it won't take that long to grow out.
Can you scoop it to one side and clip it real quick? That is my usual quick solution to doing my 2 year olds hair, which is currently a trainwreck because I am trying to grow out her bangs and it always looks horrible to me :) I wish she liked hats sometimes LOL
