What Coffee Brand?

Okay. We quit Maxwell house over a year ago. They just got cheap with the taste and kept the price lower. We started the Folgers, and like a medium roast. I am getting tired of the taste, unless they got cheap. We are big time coffee drinkers! My husband drinks way more coffee than me. I drink green tea, cocoa or anything hot. Especially in winter time. What is your favorite brand. We have to be reasonable in our prices because we go through too much and it would get way too expensive to drink a whole lot of that extremely expensive stuff. (but hey, its all cheaper than starbuck drivethru!)

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Lots have mentioned Duncan Donuts. So i am thinking to buy this for myself and since my husband has not complained about the Folgers starting to taste different, then he can keep drinking that and i will buy myself the expensive kind. Oh, but we only own 1 coffee pot. Maybe i will mix half duncan donuts coffee with half folgers . Thanks ladies! I have lots to try, as i look at all the good suggestions

I by grinding beans, usually the 8'Oclock or the Millstone. Thats my fav. I like super heavy thick coffee. I like robust and none of the normal brands help much. I actually LOVE the 5 lbs sacks I got in India but its almost impossible to get them here. It was some Arabic brand that I I cant remember the names.

My #1 choice is Seattle's Best #5. Not the cheapest, but I am the only coffee drinker in my house. I'm what you might call a "coffee snob" though. I will "deal" with Folgers Columbian, but I much prefer a much bolder coffee.

I've never liked Maxwell House. And yes... I do believe Folgers changed their coffee recently... It tastes more like Maxwell House now.

#2 Choice for me is the Starbucks Sumatra.

Starbucks, Seattles Best, & Dunkin Donuts are all great, but my favorite is Market Pantry (Target's store brand) Kona Blend. Medium bodied but very smooth. LOVE IT!

I love my Keurig. In fact, Keurig and I have been having an on-going love affair since Mother's Day when I opened him and I see us having a long and happy relationship. *sigh*

For my Keurig I like the Kona brand coffee.

For my regular pot (because you should always have something waiting in the wings in case it doesn't work out - i.e. the keurig breaks) - I like Seattle's Best, the Seattle's Best Brand, and Starbucks Brand Serena Organic.

I am not sure if you have Trader Joes where you live, but I love love love a good coffee and usually spend a fortune on organic coffee beans at Whole Foods and grind them at home, but I started to look for something a little cheaper and comparable and found Trader Joes Organic French Roast (Whole Beans) is really good and nearly half the price. I don't mind spending money on a good coffee, but if I can find something cheaper that still tastes good. Anyway, I highly recommend it. I'm sure you can order it online as well. Good luck.

Well... if you want cheap you get cheap. You get what you pay for. If you want good coffee then you have to pay for it. If you want decent coffee that's affordable but won't break the bank then you can get the grocery store brand coffee beans and grind them for free in the store.

For instance Price Chopper sells whole bean Green Mountain and they have a wide selection. You can measure out what you want for $9.99/pound, which fills a full bean bag that they provide. You can choose how finely or coarsely ground the grinds are based on the coffee maker you use. I use a French Press so I set the grinder on "coarse" and choose whatever beans I feel like that week. Lately I've been using half decaf French dark roast and half Espresso dark roast. They have all types of roasts.

Okay, so, since you also enjoy teas and mentioned green teas as well... I'm going to further endorse the French Press because you can also use it for loose leaf tea. I know that Price Chopper also carries loose leaf teas as well. You just have to really clean out the French Press if you're going to go back and forth between teas and coffees with it so that the coffee doesn't flavor the tea.

The French Press is really easy to use, and coffee tastes so much better with it. Even if you use a light roast or a medium roast, it'll taste better and richer because with a drip coffee the hot water just passes through the grounds. With a French Press the grounds mingle in the hot water letting the oils really come out and you get the real flavor of the beans. Then you just use the built-in strainer and pour it directly into your mug. It's fresh, hot, and so delicious.

I like 8 O'clock Columbian at the grocery store. I buy the beans and grind at home. I drink black coffee so it's gotta be good stuff! The price of a large bag has gone up nearly 100% in the past three years, sigh. Now it's $16 for a two pound bag which lasts us about a week.

I don't know if you can get it there, but I like Green Mountain. It is more expensive than Folgers etc.. but for me coffee is one thing I will spend money on. I also like it cold, so I make a pot at a time and I have a special coffee only pitcher I keep it in and drink it all week. BUT I am the only one drinking it, and I only drink one cup a day so a whole pot lasts awhile.

I've been a coffee drinker all of my life:) I've been a member of Coffee Fool and Gevalia. I've tasted just about every coffee out there. The absolute best, regular coffee in the world, in my humble opinion, is Tim Horton's coffee. We have Tim Horton's restaurants here in Michigan. I checked if you have them in FL, but it doesn't look like you do; however, you can order online. It is worth every penny. Please order at least one bag. I'm almost 99.9% sure you will like it:)

Gevalia is great too! You order on line and get a coffee maker free. I also like Dunkin Donuts coffee packs you can buy right at their store. I think it tastes better than at the grocery store. Millstone is also a good one if your grind the beans in the store yourself. Medium and bold and flavors also avaiable.

We usually buy Dunkin Donuts coffee. I don't like folgers or maxwell house at all. Most of the Starbucks coffees have a burnt taste to me. I do like to experiment with different store brands and have found Trader Joes to be pretty good. I would love to just buy flavored coffee, but hubby doesn't like that at all. I also like to get the different brands from our "World Market" store--they come from different countries and have very descriptive flavors (like buying wine)!

I can buy the cheapest stuff and it tastes fine to me, since i add so much flavored creamer.

But my husband prefers, and I have heard from others that it's really good too, I like it, but again, I add creamer, so don't get 100% of the 'flavor': Texas Pecan flavor coffee from our local grocery store. I know "HEB" stores aren't in FL, but for $5.99 that's our favorite.

My brother swears that 8 o'clock brand is the best.

Costco's Kirkland brand World Blend Medium Roast is yummy! They sell it right next to the Dunkin Donuts brand so it could be the same thing, but its only $13 for 2.5lbs vs. $20 for the DD brand name.

I'm a couponer so I usually buy the cheapest because I don't drink coffee enough to be bothered by it. My husband who drinks it every morning said he doesn't ever get time to be bored of any certain brand because we change so often! Lately I've been drinking Tazo Chai. I just get the concentrate box and add milk! YUM!

I'm not a coffee snob so I get what is on sale! lol Chuck ful o nuts is good and reasonably priced. Can get it at BJ's (and use a manufacture coupon too) and it is the cheapest on the self there. I've recently tried 8 oclock as Publix had it on sale and I had some coupons and I found it to be on the weak side but still good. Haven't tried DD coffee as it's too expensive without sales or coupons. I'm the only coffee drinker in the house so I don't have to please anyone but me :) Try some store brands too as they are normally made by the national brand only under the generic label and you have nothing to loose as you can normally take them back to the store for a full refund!!

Happy coffee shopping!

We like the Cuban coffees. They have such a good rich taste. Plus, you can easily control the strength from very rich and strong to light and weak. They are all so reasonably priced, too. What coffee could be better than Cuban coffee!?!? Well, okay, besides Kona! (^_^) Anyway, I recommend for inexpensive and delicious maybe trying one of these three: 8 O'Clock Colombian, Cafe' Bustelo, and Pilon. Have fun!!! (^_^)
