what can i use as waterproof mattress cover. (for my 7 years old daughter)
I get mine at Penney's.
We have one on our king, and one on our son's double... terrycloth on one side... breathable h20 proof "cells" on the underside. I can spill a gallon of water on either and the mattress stays dry... but you can smoosh your face in it and breath right through it. It's also completely "silent" (no crackling), and doesn't retain heat.
We got them through SleepCountryUSA when we bought our mattresses. They've gone in the wash once a week for 4 years now, and they're 'good as new'.
You can buy waterproof mattress pads for regular-sized beds. Check out JC Penney. We found one there we like that we use on both of our kids' beds (4 and 8 years old) for those occasional accidents that are soft on top, but plastic on bottom.
Didn't you already ask this question? You got very good answers on your other post!
I bought an inexpensive yet highly effective mattress cover for our kids at Ikea. They have several different ones and I like the fitted-sheet type best. You can wash it but tumble dry on very low heat. Good luck!
. . . go and get a waterproof mattress sheet??? Or use one of the waterproof crib mattress pads.
I'm a little off base, but I am assuming that your 7 year old daughter still wets the bed, not common, but not unheard of. If so, I also assume that you have been trying everything to help her. I want to tell you why she wets the bed and what you can do about it. Ignore me if this is not the issue.
During the first year of life, we go through many physical stages in development; these are also associated with neurodevelopment in the brain. We see some reflex behavior from the time that the ckids are born that should also disappear. For example, the moro reflex causes a baby to shake and bring up hands and feet when startled. Most people integrate that reflex during the first year of life. If not, and many people do not, we see behaviors like anxiety and hypersensitivity.
Bedwetting is a behavior associated with a retained spinal galant reflex. Other behaviors/symptoms are:
• Fidgeting
• Poor concentration
• Poor short term memory
• Sensory integration problems
• Near focusing problems
• Difficulty with reading
If this sounds like your daughter, do not be discouraged! Following an easy exercise regime for about a month will integrate the reflex and alleviate the symptoms - most importantly the bedwetting. Amazingly enough, just this morning I received an email from an acquaintance whose 10 year old son has been dry for months, after never having a dry night in his life!! They had tried everything the doctors were suggesting before.
Google "spinal galant reflex" for more information. There are even DVDs out there for the exercises.
Good luck!!
If you are wanting really cheap - get a cheap shower curtain and cut it in half or 1/4's. Then lay it across her bed - under the bottom sheet - where she would need the protection. Then if it gets wet, just toss it in the washer along with the bedding. Put another section down with another sheet. Good to go.
Target has waterproof mattress covers for all sizes of mattresses. They're around $20. Not sure what the question is...
WalMart carries mattress covers that are quiet, if you want something that's not crinkly and loud. They have a soft part to make it more comfortable. I put one on our bed when I was pregnant and left it on while DD was new in case she puked or something.
