I usually spoil my mom, as she is a minimum wage earner and lives alone.
Scentsy
Basic necessities like shampoo she likes, her fav mascara, etc
Clothes and PJs
Her supplements she likes to order
I'd love to hear what you're getting your mom and MIL this Mother's Day. I've kind of run out of ideas!
Thanks!
I've really enjoyed reading all of your responses and did get some good ideas, so thanks, ladies! And Happy Mother's Day to all of you!

I don't buy "things" for my parents anymore, because they are borderline hoarders. We give them experiences instead. This year we're paying for their hotel when they come to visit at the end of this month. We haven't seen them since Thanksgiving!
Flowers for her grave, we lost her Nov 10. MIL I never met, she passed when my ex was 5.
And I'm making up some "blessing bags" to hand out here in SoCal in honor of my Mom. She taught me from being a young girl to care for others and help them, my earliest memories of her generosity is feeding "hobos" that came to our door. We lived across the street from a train depot, and I honestly believe there was a sign there telling them where to go if they were hungry :) She lived through the Great Depression and appreciated everything her family had been given, she believed in paying it forward.
Happy Mother's Day!!
My wife and I are flying her mom in for mother's day. She will be here a week. We are arranging for her to see her great grandkids.
For my mom, I will pray and ask Heavenly Father to have someone give her a hug for me and tell her I love her and miss her very much.
For my wife, I will write a poem for her and give her roses from my garden. I will also give her a trip to Yellowstone which she has never seen.
God luck to you and yours.
My mother passed away over 30 years ago -
I will maybe send flowers to her grave.
My Daughter in law is an amazing Mother to my little grandchildren, she is always so busy, but so thoughtful. The little kiddos will be 4 and 1 in June.
Last year I gave her a Mother's Day gift of planting flowers in her big urns on the front porch and in front of garage doors. I chose foilage plants, blooming plants, and large stalk plants that coordinated with the color of their house and front door.
My son and she were so happy as they didn't have to go to the green house, which I love to do. There were enough left over flowers to put in pots on three of the steps leading to front door, was really beautiful!
With the plants and potting soil was around $75.
Plants vary in price so can fit any budget. They just have to water and they lasted all summer. I plan to do the same this year for her and experiment with different arrangements.
Mother in Law is dead. Has been for 7 years. So nothing for her.
My mom? Most likely send her some Edible Arrangements or flowers. I already gave her some blouses when I saw her in April. She loved them.
I can't spoil my mom. She and my dad seem to not ask for anything. URGH!! When they "NEED" something - they go out and get it. I might send her a gift card to Layne Bryant or Dress Barn so she can pick out some more clothes...maybe shorts for herself! She's lost weight recently! :)
My mom lives in another state and I'm having flowers delivered to her house. As for my MIL we'll probably get her some plants for her garden.
I don't know yet. My mother has dementia and doesn't communicate or know who we are. So, I'm not sure. I might send flowers to sit in her room. I sent a plant last year and it didn't make it. My dad put it in the lounge area for everyone to enjoy and it just didn't get watered. So, if anyone has any ideas that would be great. I have not clue. She already has new photos of the grandkids, clothes. I'm at a loss.
My MIL - we will send a plant for her garden.
For my MIL of 12 years, I am taking her out to lunch and then for pedicure/some pampering. She really has been a second mother to me since my Mom passed away in 2000. She doesn’t pamper herself with pedicures or massages or anything of that nature very often and is such a huge help to my husband and I with our two boys that are 10 and 4. My hubby will be out of town for work for the week before Mother’s day, which happens to fall during the week that I work late on a monthly basis. My in-laws plan on staying at my house for a couple days in order to get the kids from school, feed them dinner and take and support my oldest at his evening baseball game. We don’t know what we would do without her love and support and plan on showing her just how important she is to us.
I send my mother flowers or plants, but gifts she does not like to accept, plus she lives in Ca and travels a WHOLE LOT for work, flowers I can send to her hotel OR home ;)
My MIL lives here and all the mothers are taken to brunch by the kids(fathers) on Mothers Day.
What I should get her is time away from her house remodel and my dad and his remodel obsession LOL
I have no idea honestly.
She doesn't need anything and doesn't want anything because her house is in total chaos because of the remodel, which wasn't planned, they had a slab leak and since so much had to be done they just decided to add a bunch of other stuff.
Probably could use a few good ideas at this point ;)
My mom is getting three 8x10 frames with 5x7 hand drawn pictures by my three kids. Cost me $15 and I bet she cries!
I asked my husband if his mom would like the same and haven't gotten a response. So since hers would have to be mailed, I bet she gets homemade cards from the kids and a joint one from my husband and I.
My sister's will get homemade cards, as will my youngest son's Godmother in Germany.
Wow, you actually just reminded me that I need to get something ordered. Thank you.
Typically, we go to the country club for the Mother's Day brunch which is the best brunch they have all year. Beautiful and Yummy
Since I am flying out of town on Sun and not returning until later next week, I need to get busy. I'll probably send her some sort of flowers she can plant in the yard because she loves gardening.
Her birthday is the same day as high school graduation ans she is coming out here to see my daughter graduate. At that time, I will give her a framed picture of my daughter's formal senior portrait.
We're giving a donation to Operation Smile- her charity of choice at the moment- for Mother's Day. She asked that we spend whatever money we were going to spend taking her out and for gifts on that instead.
Well, mine keeps losing her earrings, which makes my life easy in a way. The MIL is very into having flowers delivered, so that takes care of her.
Father's Day, though, is a shopping world of hurt. ;(
A bouquet of pretty flowers from the grocery store.
Small box of See's candy (you can buy Whitman's Sampler from a
drugstore to save money.).
Framed pic of the kids
Summer tee shirts she's been wanting
A throw for her on the couch.
Make her a nice fancy lunch w/all of her favesif she doesn't want to go out to eat.
I traditionally get flowers. I know a florist local to them that does a great bouquet for $35. It's the one gift a year that's totally frivolous.
Mom is coming up for our annual trip to the western NC Herb Festival! We go together as a Mom/daughter (who is a mom also) team to enjoy our love of culinary and medicinal herbs.
We have taken my girls with us the last several years. Last year was the worst! Twin 3 yr olds acting like...well, like 3 yr olds! We said that we would get a sitter this year if need be. I informed the ex that his mothers day gift to me (as the mother of his kids/for the kids) is going to be him watching them while Mom and I enjoy ourselves!
We always find some new herb or heirloom veggie/fruit plant to try!
A gift certificate to a local restaurant. she doesn't do that sort of thing for herself often, but she does enjoy it.
Good luck to you and yours,
F. B.
I pretty blue bird wind chime for her front porch, sooo pretty. I got it off of groupon :-) and I got myself a purple butterfly wind chime too!
I bought my mom an iPad! She's been wanting one for a while she's going 2 b super excited!

I buy her a really nice, large hanging plant for her front lantern (something that's a mix of 2-3 flowers, I usually get them from my garden club's sale) and take care of dinner. Sometimes we go to their house with my husband, kids and siblings and if we do that, I pick up some take out on the way. Sometimes my parents and siblings come to my house. My younger kids do a project in school this time of year called Square One Art where their artwork is on things that we can order, so I usually get my parents, in-laws etc. some of those items from the kids.
My MIL is deceased and my grandmother just passed this year, so the last "mom" to celebrate besides mine is my grandmother-in-law. She has a terminal illness so we'll spend part of the day with her as well.
Thanks for asking this, it's fun so see the answers!
