I'm looking for a little input on what I should expect to pay a part-time babysitter. Also what would you pay a college student and what would you pay a teenager?

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Thank you for all the input on babysitting rates. I found a college student for $8/hr.

I think it all depends where you live. I believe the "average" is $8.00-10.00. I think you may be able to find a high school kid for $5.oo usually college $8.00-$10.00. I think it also depends on how many kids you have.

I usually have the sitter come to my place of residence and I pay $4.00 - $5.00 per hour. Hope this helps.

Hi M.,

We pay 7-10 an hour. The higher end of the scale is for college students who drive themselves, are self directed in feeding and keeping the house cleaned up.

I live on the northside and it's $10 or more for sitters I've found. Again, it depends on who, their experience, how many children, etc., but in general around that.

For high school I would expect to pay $6-7 per hour depending upon length of babysitting and experience.

We seem to pay the same for 2 that we did for 1. For the local teenager, about $8/hr plus a tip. For the experienced adult or college student with nanny experience, $10.
