My son has been stationed oversees and will be visting for 2 weeks in January 2010, we have not seen him in 2 years and really want to have some fun with him plus make some special memories as a family together before he goes back. The problem is that we recently moved to Irving, Texas and really need some suggestions of fun things to do in DFW area for a 21 year old son, 23 year old daughter and us (Mom & Dad)? I'm sorry, but we are clueless ... and really would like to say in advance, "Thank you so much for your advise and assistance it's greatly appreciated!
Thank you so much for your assistance but please keep the suggestions coming I am all ears! Thanks again I greatly appreciate you!

You would all have a blast taking a trip to downtown..have a meal at Dick's Last Resort (they poke fun at all the guests but very funny) there are some great museums there also and you could go to Dave and Busters in Frisco it is an adult only arcade, bowling, eatery. Another thing my husband and I love to do is go have dinner, drinks, all while we watch a movie at Studio Movie Grill (the one in Lewisville is nicer than the one in Plano) If money is tight def look at their websites because these places have half price nights and deals etc. Horseback riding is always an option. Don't know how daring you are but paintball is always super fun...or laser tag at Main Event. Another place I think you're never too old or young for is the Fort Worth Zoo half price on Wednesdays and soooo worth it. Clean zoo and so much to see, not too tiring either but the weather might not cooperate right now. Have fun whatever you decide and enjoy your precious time together : )
There are many things to do...
Tour the Rangers Ballpark in Arlington
Tour the new Cowboy stadium
Tour the Kennedy Memorial in Dallas
Sundance Square in FT. Worth has lots to do and places to eat
Go to a stars game. They have some decent packages for January.
Dave and Busters is a good place to go...good eats and lots to do there for most ages.
I am sure there is a Putt Putt near you. THat is a family fun thing. Surely with this crazy texas weather there will be a 60 degree day where you can enjoy it!

Ride the free trolley downtown and eat in the restaurants around the Village. The conductor will tell you where to stop and pick up the trolley later.
Go to House of Blues downtown on Lamar. Great Live music and check the website for a calendar. There's ages 21 and over with lots of parents. I have been to HOB often with my 21 year old son and I don't feel too old..
Go to Grapevine and visit Main street, eat lunch at many quaint restaurants.
Go to Gaylord Resort and visit the interior lobbies and its still decorated for the holidays.
Go to studio Movie grill and watch a movie with food and drinks..great wine list for parents.
Enjoy your son's time off.We were a military family with my soldier ex-husband so I understand how important it is to treasure the time you have together.
