When I had my son in the Wilsonville YMCA Development Center, it was awesome. They were on the ball and very good. I did not notice a religious theme.

Hi A. A.
Welcome to the US! My 10 month old daughter attends Y's Choice in SE Portland. I think the teachers are knowledgeable, the activites are varied, and the facility is great. They have covered and uncovered outdoor play areas. Y's Choice is small in numbers so it has a more family-feel which we have definitely enjoyed. Hope that helps! N.

My daughter goes to Montessori of Alameda. She's in preschool there but they also have an infant/toddler community. We've been very happy with the school and she loves it. We like it enough that we drive 45 min in the morning to get there. They're located at
NE 42nd and Going

I do not think the YMCA is that religously affiliated. In fact, I have never heard them refer to anything about religion there. I only had one child that went to preschool there and it was a very small town and I don't remember there being anything to do with religion in his class. I am sure that you could go visit the classroom. You can look around at thier walls and maybe visit a class. Then you would know for sure if they talk about religion or do religious artwork.

The teacher was obviously ill equiped to deal with so
many children and often called in sick, leaving the children with a succession of substitutes. Most of the children were simply ignored if they weren't causing a problem. I often found the bathrooms with puddles of urine on the floor and piles of excrement. At recess the teachers would sit around gossiping and scream at the childrem from across the gym if they didn't like what they were doing. My son would be left crying for hours on end everyday and no one ever bothered to try to comfort him.
When I spoke to the Director, she acted as if I was the one with the problem. I finally got so disgusted with the place I never took my son back. I also filed a complaint.
Needless to say, I would NOT recommend the Y to anyone.
