Sometimes when I sneeze I get this really sharp pain in the bottom of my stomach.and sometimes I get these pains when Im sitting down.I have also experienced a rash when I told my doctor she didnt even look at it, at the time I had a cold with a really bad cough so she gave my an antibiotic for that and said that my rash would get worse so try to stick through it.I love my doctor and all it just seems like she didn't care much to even check it out.My rash is still there and it feels like someone is pouring fire on it and stabbing it with tiny needles.Ive been tested so I know its nothing to that point but I was wondering if anyone else has had what I have.My what to expect when your expecting book said it was a heat rash so I think that is what it is.I'm lost.

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

I called my doctor office and the quickest they could get me in was in 2 weeks which is 7 days before my current appointment.

I would schedule another appt with your doc. Sharp pains are not uncommon in pregnancy. It could be that when you cough, you're pushing the baby around...or something like that. If I were you, I'd insist that the doc look at the rash and take the pains seriously. If nothing else, it will give you piece of mind.

Don't know much about the rash but the pains in your lower abdomen/groin area are due to your muscles and ligaments growing with pregnancy. When you sneeze or even get up from a laying down or sitting position it puts pressure or pullls these muscles and ligament which can cause these pains. At least that is what my doctor told me. If you aren't happy with wwhat your doctor told you aobut the rash, I would get a second opinion.

The pains do sound like round ligament, I have the same thing when I sneeze really hard and I am 6 months along.

The rash could be a reaction to the antibiotics, or it could be PUPP http://www.tcinternet.net/users/kritzerburke/naomi/PUPPP.htm it is very common in pregnancy.

In any case, I would be looking for a different doctor. She is not taking your concerns seriously, and you shouldn't be getting unnecessary meds (i.e. antibiotics for a cold) esp when you are pregnant.

Sharp pains sounds like round ligament pains. This is due to the stress put on the ligaments that attach your uterus to your abdomen. Do they feel sharp and burning?

If it's your pelvis that hurts it could be that the joint is softening (normal and good) but can cause pain.

I would recommend making another appointment with your doctor. Is this an OB? Antibiotics will not help a cold... Where is this rash? If you are not happy with the attentions of your doctor-- NOW is the time to switch. You don't want to feel uncomfortable with your doctor....

It could be what previous post has written. As far as the rash, it sounds like a reaction to the antibiodic and that you might need to switch. I would demand to be seen by your doctor. And if they won't get you in, it might be best to find a new doctor. Hope you feel better soon.

Everything you describe sounds fairly common. I agree that the pain is likely related to the stretching of the round ligaments and/or the relaxing of the pelvic structure.

The rash is likely the pupps rash that a previous poster mentioned. For most women, it only goes away once the baby is born. Many people find relief using oatmeal-based lotions and baths. Aveeno is a good brand for those products.

As for the antibiotics, I am extremely curious why any doctor would prescribe them for a cold, which is a viral infection, not the result of a bacterial infection. The antibiotics can exacerbate the rash because they indiscriminately remove all bacteria from your body, even the good ones. You may want to replenish your good bacteria by taking probiotics (available at health stores) or eating lots of yogurt.

Hope this helps!
