I have just in the past 20 months had 2 of my 3kids by c-section, and am finding weight loss impossible. I do try to walk everyday wich keeps the weight as it, just doesn't lower it. I haven't got a lot of money or time to get a gym membership. I wanted to know if their were any 'tricks' or suggestions to help loose the weight. What has worked for you all out there? I didn't seem to have this problem with my oldest son born vaginally. I would apprecite any advice or suggestions you have.

What can I do next?

Hi J.,
The thing that worked best for me was the South Beach Diet. I do have to say that it does take determination and commitment, but the results were worth it. Not only did I drop the weight, but I feel better, and have more energy.

Hi!
Walking is great! Measure all of your food, maintain the proper amount of calories to lose weight and lift weights. You can find free weights at Freecycle.com (thats where I got mine) or you can fill empty milk jugs with water and lift those. Soup cans for starting out will work just fine too. Pushups, situps, pullups, jumping jacks, jump rope-they don't require much for equipment either. Keep with the walking though-make sure you get 6 days of cardio and at least 3 days of weight training with one day of rest in between weight training days. You will start to see results soon!
take care,
G.

We also can't afford a big gym membership. I am currently trying to lose weight also and I do weight watchers. I don't go to the meetings I just do it online. We get a discount through our health insurance company. That is something you should look into. A lot of health insurance companies also give discount on gym memberships. I try to keep busy as much as possible and get out every day to walk.I've lost 10lbs in 2 weeks with weight watchers its definetely something you should look into its a great diet.

As of January of this year I tried going on a diet. While on the diet I lost 5 pounds (stayed on for 3 months) finally I decided that I was just going to eat what I wanted and just stop trying. Since that time I have lost 20lbs. I did stop eating fast food. If I don't feel like cooking rather than ordering pizza or going through McDonalds I go to Subway. I don't exercise other than cleaning. I have to walk down two flights and up two flights of stairs to do laundry. I do at least 3 loads of laundry a day. I also sweep and mop every day. You can find things that you do on a daily basis as exercise rather than going to a gym. Also this website http://www.mypyramid.gov/ is great! You can enter in everything you ate for the day and enter all the activities you did (including laudry, showering, feeding babies, ect.) and it will tell you your caloric intake to output. I found it very useful! Good luck

I feel your pain. I always seem to struggle with the last ten pounds. I like to walk in the morning before my whole family gets up, and now I jog. I find that with jogging or running I get more out of it in less time. It seems really hard at first, and I was never a runner, but now I love it. Nothing is better for getting out your frustrations than throwing on headphones and running out your front door. There are websites that are geared towards helping new runners get started with certain run/walk patterns, etc. Also, if you want to stay motivated, find a short road race in your area, no more than 3-5 miles. See if you can find one that is in 6 months or year from now, and make that your goal. You'll be surprised how fast you can go from walking to jogging with just a little effort. If I can do it, anyone can. Good Luck, I hope everything turns out well:)

J., sometimes its not how much you eat. but what you eat.
for me, i found out just how much bread or carbs i took in after i stopped eating the bad carb food.
sometimes i just ate a piece of bread and butter and thought "oh my goodness i am not suppose to be eating this!!" so it was out of habit.
when i was younger. i grew up with the big myth that "fat" was bad. so i ate all "fat free" foods. like bread with margerine!!! it had no fat right??
so i learned later on when i accepted the fact that i was going to be fat!! that i was not a "fat person". i had to learn what was right for MY body. i went on the atkins diet but i didn't do it all the way. so i guess it would be the south beach diet. but i didn't do it strict. and the weight fell off.
i was and always was a carbohydrate addict!! weird.
now i am 41 and look great for my age. i watch my carbs and still am able to enjoy my dinner time.
i hope this helps. i hope i made sense. figure out what you eat the most and cut your helpings in half or omit the foods that are bad for a while and watch your weight fall off too!!
no alcohol for a while!! just a little while...
best of luck!!
oh and stress does a number on our body too.....don't worry. enjoy the babies and if you eat right....(like i said) hopefully things will work out and you will love yourself..cause thats important too!!
and maybe try some sit ups!!! now J.. start off slow. do 5 and the next week do 10. you don't have to break a sweat or anything. don't make this "work" cause we all have enough on our plates...right?? yoga...i got a book and just did some stretching exercises for about 15 minutes at night. (that was my best time for me!!)
dont' feel helpless. i feel for you and thats why i am going on and on....lol breath and enjoy life too....you can do it!!

Try Weight Watchers-it's the only thing that has worked for me. It's great to really keep you focused on weight loss. I've also heard that it can take some time before you're back to normal after a c section-so maybe just give it some more time. Also you could try to step up your walking to burn more calories. Maybe walk a greater distance or walk faster.

HI J., from what I've learned from my friends who've had C's it is very hard to lose your stomach weight, I think it has something to do with scare tissue or something. Talk to your GYN, some hospitals and clinics run free or low cost post baby exercise programs. Unfortunately, having 2 C sections puts a lot of strain on your body so you do have work ahead of you. Good luck, I have a feeling that chasing after 3 small kids might be exercise enough. ; )

Hello J.,
I didn't have a c-section but I did find it hard to loose weight with a new baby and all of lifes stresses. However, I have a few people at my work who are doing weight watchers and are loosing weight. Therefore, I gave them money for the books and started the diet on my own. It's working, I'm doing the Core diet and have lost 9 pounds in 2.5 weeks. It's easy to follow. If you want, I can email you all the info.
