K.O.
When I was doing Weight watchers (and even now being on maintenance) I gave up coffee shops. My drink of choice - grande, non fat, no whip, white mocha - was 10 points. I don't really like anything else at starbucks, so I stopped going.
I'm doing Weight Watchers and am doing fine until it comes to coffee shops. I don't so sugar-free anything. I drink water and hot tea. Sometimes i really, really want a coffee. I'm a mocha girl myself (probably what landed me doing WW).
Today i tried a nonfat latte with caramel....i didn't care for it. Maybe I'd be better of staying away from coffee shops?
What do you order that's good and low in points (or calories)?
Im going to join the 12 step program and avoid coffee shops.....it is a trigger for me as I dont like black or nonfat or sugar free.
I do like tea, so I'll ramp that up....thanks ladies.

Starbucks a soy latte with sugar free vanilla. I like their non fat coffee frapp
I like a one percent mocha half the amount of chocolate and no whip. Also the very berry hibicious refresher with green coffee very good. These are suggestions from the nutritionist also their spinach feta wraps are good. Their oatmeal light on toppings. Also their whole wheat egg white reduced fat turkey breakfast sandwich is good. One percent milk taste so much better to me and isn't that much calorie difference than non fat.
Best of luck,
L
The sugar-free mochas are gross. To save calories, I cut the number of mocha pumps in half... usually a tall has 3, and a grande has 4. One or two will give you sweetness without the extra calories. And you can cut them down gradually.
I also use NF milk and no whip. Not because I have to but because I like it better that way.
My drink: Double-tall, 2-pump, non-fat, no whip mocha. :) Yes, I'm terribly high maintenance at the coffee shop!
Get the Nutri-bullet and make your own coffee drinks... this way, you control the calories count.. or shall I say points..
Example.. get ice, make some strong coffee, add milk (what percent you like) or even low-fat yogurt if you are looking for even more creamy..
then blend and BAM... fancy drink.. that is what I do..
if you like, you can even top with powdered chocolate, it doesn't have a lot of calories..
As for the coffee shops.. As someone who is in a 12 step program myself. Many would suggest that if a coffee shop is a trigger for you, then don't go in...... why set yourself ... in the same way, an alcoholic must stay away from a bar in fear he/she will pick up "just one" drink... if you might waiver and get a mocha... this is it really worth it to go in...
probably not..
UPDATE: Lucky Mama.. Good for you in joining a 12 step.. Albeit, gotta admit, it's been a much harder program than any other I have tried (not because of the food itself) but rather, all the emotional work that I have needed to do.. It's been life changing and so rewarding... Good luck with your journey..
Caribou Coffee's Northern Lite Latte is good and pretty low (I think 3 Pts +)
I personally like a tall 2% latte. I find the milk adds enough sweetness that I don't have to add any more sugar. It's 150 calories and so filling I sometimes just have one for lunch, with the added bonus of protein and calcium. It HAS to be at least 2%. With nonfat, the coffee gets too overpowering and I need to add a sweetener. But the 2% is perfect.
Well you could always go with hot tea instead of coffee. I would stay away from the caramel and other syrups because they are very sugary. They do have sugar free syrups that aren't too bad (caramel and vanilla are my favorites) but you mentioned you don't like sugar free things so that might not work for you!
Maybe just go with the regular latte, no flavoring, or sprinkle some cinnamon on top, most places have a little shaker of it for people to use.
When I go to Starbucks to meet friends I often buy a bottle of water or tea. Coffee seems to get me into higher calories because I want to add too much to it.
If you like to drink it black with nothing in it - a little coffee won't hurt your diet.
If you don't like it black (I can't stand the sugar free substitute stuff), then learning to love tea might be a lot easier on you.
For a slight caffeine kick, I'll have a nice Earl Grey (with just a drop of lemon in it) first thing in the morning.
The rest of the day, I'll enjoy a variety of fruity caffeine free teas (a little lemon is all I ever add).
(I tried tea once with milk - it just wasn't right for me.)
Hoping you get some good answers. I gave up soft drinks long ago because I can't stand diet soda, but I just can't drink coffee without sugar.
Good luck on your quest for a decent coffee that comes without guilt!

Plain black coffee. No calories--fat free -- sugar free.
