You may want to go to another bariatric treatment doctor...my mother has been referred to others and one said that insurance will pay if they document at least 6 months of trying to lose weight the old-fashioned way of dieting and exercise...that would mean putting her on a diet recommended by that doctor...and then her exercising, too. Once that 6 months was completed and the doctor had documentation of that effort..and still no weight loss happened...then insurance would cover the cost of the lapband procedure (because weight loss would prevent future more serious conditions: heart disease, high blood pressure). My mom would have to only pay the deductible for surgery.
You should look into trying other doctors that can help you get your insurance to pay for it. [they know the procedures and protocols better than we do!] You must research that option more. If not, some of these doctors provide payment options that are affordable loans - definitely worth it for the freedom and joy you'll feel at a healthy weight.

The other thing that I would recommend, but I'm not sure if you want to hear it: I've lost 50 lbs counting points and going to Weight Watcher meetings and working out at a gym 5-6 days a week. It takes dedication and determination, but once you've made up your mind that enough is enough and "i will not gain one more pound"; "today is the day that i turn this around," ....you can do it! Feel free to PM me if you want some of my tips/advice on this journey i'm on. I have some "tricks" that have helped me stay focused and staying committed for so long (since July 2006). I have about 30 more lbs to lose, but I can see the light at the end of the tunnel now....and nothing...absolutely nothing tastes as good as thin feels! I love my new, evolving body now...and it's getting better.
I did have blood work done and my doc discovered i had an underactive thyroid so she put me on hormone medicine to bring my thyroid levels up. I'm sure that has helped with my weight loss -- correcting that issue. They say that an underactive thyroid can contribute to weight gain. Have you had your thyroid levels checked?
