I LOVE the DuPage Children's Museum....:)
He'll love it a ton. He's at the perfect age.
Enjoy! :)
I was wondering if anyone has a good idea for an afternoon activity this Tue 9/4/07. My hub. and I took an extra day off to spend with out son (20m). I am due with the secd. 11/19! We both work full-time and want to make the most of our days together. So far this year we have done the zoo, the shedd aquarium, the field and science museums, day out with thomas, and the dunes in In. We are running out of things to do. Any help on what to do now???

The Childrens Museum is fun in Naperville, it may be closed this week though. The one in Chicago is a much better! IF you want to stay close to home go to the water park at Pelican Harbor. They have indoor pool parent/tot time that is FUN and Imagination Station which is free. You can hunt out the bookmobile or go to the Library I believe they have lapsit storytime at 10:15. Not sure if you have been to Fountaindale Library but it is A LOT of fun. The bolingbrook Promenade has a lot of fun things for the kids to outside. Enjoy the day!!! - F.
The Morton Arboretum is fantatic-- well wortht the drive from the city!
Try Dupage Children's Museum, have you been yet? It's so great, 2 floors of fun for kids! Check it out online, it's in Naperville, it's great fun! :)
Hi E.,
The Dupage Childrens Museum in Naperville is a great idea, but it is closed until 9/10 for their annual clean up.
There is another children's Musuem, it's Kohl's Children's Museum and it's located in Glenview (www.kohlchildrenmuseum.org) Not sure if they are closed also???
Have a great long weekend:)

The Morton Arboretum! Take a stroll around the lake by the visitors center and/or the children's garden!!!!! It is fabulous!
I agree about the Morton Arboretum. It sounds like you want something to do with just your husband. If that's the case, the arboretum has lovely trails to walk and even a drive. they have a lovely cafe for lunch or a snack. Downtown Naperville is fun to shop and Cantigny in Wheaton is another beautiful place to walk. They also has a war history interactive museum which is airconditioned. The Art Museum in Chicago is a treasure as well as the Linclon Park Zoo. My husband and I love Navy Pier. There is gobs of things to see and do. Be sure to see Buckingham fountain and Milleneum Park. Hold hands and have fun!
Philips park in aurora (Free small zoo, huge playground structure, free train ride, lots of shade for a pic-nic)
thegreatpumpkinpatch.com (haven't been there but lokks lke fun)
Not sure where you live, but the Morton Arboretum in Lisle is terrific. They have really great play areas for little ones in the Children's Garden. I highly recommend it!
The Morton Arboretum has a fun area for kids. There is lots to do.
Good luck.
Some ideas:
Cosley zoo in Wheaton (small, free, farm animals and duck pond) take a lunch

Ty Warner splash park in Westmont ($4 for non-resident kids, parents are free; take a lunch to eat under the pavilion --there are grills there, too)

The Morton Arboretum has a beautiful children's garden with lots to explore for little ones. Go on-line and take a peek...my kids love it. Warning...the bees are a bit crazy there this time of year...
