Wedding Reception in a Bowling Alley?

Its funny that you should say that. My 19 yr old daughter and her 22 yr old husband had a very small, immediate family only wedding, and decided to have a reception later which is turning out to be a one year anniversary party instead. They are going to rent a small bowling alley, invite all the people who couldn't attend the wedding. They are gonna supply a couple games of bowling and vouchers for the snack bar. Not sure what all else they are thinking about, as the anniversary isn't until March, but I think it sounds like a lot of fun, a good time for all and a chance for everyone to celebrate the anniversary. I admit its different, but my daughter is anything but traditional, so it fits them perfectly. I'm curious to read what other moms say.

Why not? :) Have fun! If themed right, it could be totally "cheesed" out and even more fun. If it is just a reception hall, then it's just a reception hall. My brother got married in a small hall in the basement of an electric company. At least there is entertainment to be had at a bowling alley!

My sister used a bowling alley for her recption hall, they even did the food. It was lovely, she had to work harder at decorating because this was a dark basement room but it was large enough they saved money and still had a bar and a dance.

I have never been to wedding reception at a bowling alley, but a banquet room is a banquet room no matter where it is located. people may raise an eye brow or two but you can make it what you want. Tie it all into the bowling and be fun or use the room for a traditional reception and go all out that way. Around where I live it is slim pickings for banquet rooms and reception halls that are affordable for many people so do what has to be done!
