I am going on a long road trip with my family this summer. I was hoping to find a good website that has fun/original/goofy stops along interstates to make the drive more tollerable.
Does anyone know of any websites that do this?
Thanks for the AAA advice. I am going I-80 from AZ to CO then to NE. Then from NE to IL. Then to IL to AR. Then AR home. Haven't planned out too far yet, just looked at I80 stops and found nothing.
This website has listings and reviews of various oddities and curiousities throughout the country. Things like a giant jackrabbit, life-size statues of Miss America, 50-ft tall fiberglass people, buildings shaped like cupcakes/bottles, etc. Fun, goofy stuff...

AAA has a trip planner package that includes whatever it is that you need (play grounds, hotels, zoos, etc). I have also heard from a coworker that their GPS unit has the ability to click on "restaurants" (and perhaps other options) to see what is close while you are on the road. I do not have one, but for a long trip I would buy a GPS. Go to BestBuy and ask the GeekSquad what you asked above and they should be able to help you. Or get an iPhone which has restaurant finder apps and I believe even playground finder apps, etc.

If you're game - get OFF the interstates as much as possible - you never know what you might find just a little off-the-road! Just get ya some good maps for the areas you'll be in - and combine that w/AAA triptix!
Theres a book that might also have a website. It's called Wierd U.S. I have the Texas addition - Wierd Texas and its all the little roadside attractions you might just drive past plus the big tourist draws, parks, etc..
