Hi Moms,
I am reducing the mgs. of prescribed Prozac gradually while under the care of a physician. I'm going from 20 mg to 10 mg and feel great so far. These were prescribed for me when my mother died, I got a divorce, and when my father died. In oher words, these were grief situations in which it was normal and expected to feel sad. Anyone out there done this successfully? I'd love to hear from you. Thanks ahead of time,
D.

What can I do next?

Just wean slowly and take as much time as you need getting off. The one nice thing about prozac is it stays in the blood stream a long time and you do not have drastic withdrawal like with some SSRI's. If you get too the last milligrams and have trouble ask for a script of the liquid and wean one milligram at a time. Good luck!

Hi,

Definitely go along with the dosage reduction recommended by your doctor- even if you're feeling better. I kind of jumped ahead and got dizzy and felt weird. That was stupid -I was OK but you should stick to the plan. If you feel like your energy is off or you're craving carbs (that happened too) try a supplement called 5HTP. That really helped me - it's at all the supermarkets. You should probably confirm with your doctor that the supplement is cool with your situation (if you're on any other meds or something). From what I can tell, it's a very safe supplement. Getting regular exercise, even if it was just a walk around the block with the dogs - helped a bunch too.

Good luck

Hi D., So if I understand your reduction of mgs is per your doctor, right? If that is the case, you should be find. But do not reduce them on your own.
