My daugther recently started on whole milk. I want to try to get her to drink milk from a sippy cup but the problem is she mostly chews on the cup. The other problem I am having is that she refuses to drink it cold. She will only drink it if it is warmed up. I'm worried that she will never drink cold milk. Any suggestions?

My son is six months old, and we just started to give hima aippy cup, and i have found that the avent sippy cups work great for him, he is able to get the liquid out with no problems, the playtex ones seem to be a bit harder for him right now. And with the whole warm milk thing, i would warm it up and put it in the sippy and then little by little let it get colder, she will get use to it, it won't take that long.
My daughter just went through that, I tried to warm it for less seconds each day in the microwave. To go from a bottle to a sippy, I went to wal-mart and got the cups that have a plastic straw and you suck it just like you do with a bottle and she really seemed to like it. Hope it helps!
My son started taking a sippy cup when I was in the hospital giving birth to my daughter. My in-laws were staying with us and they simply gave it to him. He put up very little fuss. I guess since he was not used to them he didn't know how much he could get away with so he figured he better take what he could get. LOL If you have others watch your son maybe they can get him to use a cup.
My daughter who is 19 months doesn't like sippy cups. Our pediatrician suggested removing the valve from the sippy cup as she may be having difficulty sucking liquid out. I found plastic sippy cups at Walmart in the baby section. They are meant to be disposable but I wash them and reuse them. They don't have valves and my daughter is starting to show interest in them. Liquid does drip out a little when the cup is tipped over so I reserve it for meals and other times when I will be watching her closely. I also stick to milk or clear liquids that won't stain.
I agree with Samantha. My 11 mo old won't use a playtex sippy( like my other 5 did) but he can drink from another one ( 94 cents at Walmart) that has a rubber spout. Also each time you put milk in the sippy make it less warm. Hope that helps.
Hi J.. To get my little guy off the bottle I began offering him the Playtex cups (fyi -the lids and spouts are interchangeable which will come in handy as your daughter gets older and moves to the bigger cups). The lids are pretty sturdy and can withstand a lot of chewing! Maybe if you heat the milk a little for her and then reduce the amount you heat it week by week she’ll start to accept it both cold and in the cup. Good luck!
When my kids were this little I gave them no other choice. I know it sounds mean but that is what my Dr recomended to do. I gave them their milk in a sippy cup and that was that. After two days they forgot what the bottle was. You might also want to try a different sippy cup. When my kids were little they would only drink out of certain cups. Good luck!
