My son was on soy formula and it took some time for him to get used to the whole cow milk so I would put a little chocolate in it and then started decressing the amount until he took plain milk.
Hello ladies, daughter #2 just turned a year old and after a very successful year of nursing, I'd like to get her to drink whole milk. Problem is she hates it! I got her to eat cherrios that were soaked in it with limited success. I tried heating it up, no luck. I even tried a little strawberry milk, terrible. Baby only loves mommy's milk! Any suggestions? I'd like to have her weaned within about a month (or less!). Thank you!
Well thank you everyone. Seems like a fairly common problem. I'm going to try to add different things to the milk. I thought I had a great idea by mixing it with a yogurt drink but she still hated it... guess I'll have to keep up other dairy sources!

Good! No really. Milk is NOT what is used to be. Mommy's milk is SOOOOOO different.
I am a family wellness coach and here are two of the sources that I trust:

Do your due diligence. My children are 13 and 10 and there is no milk in this house, hasn't been for years.
If you want a healthy option: This is my kids breakfast. http://liveitdontdiet.isagenix.com/us/en/isaleanshake.dhtml
And as for the "breakfast cereal", you know those litle cirlce ones you want her to eat...check the ingredients. You will see TRISODIUM PHOSPHATE. Google it. Or better yet, head to your nearest harwarde store and pick up wall paper remover and see what their number one ingredient is...you guesed it TSP trisodium phosphate.
MOMS PLEASE EDUCATE YOURSELF. Things are not as they seem.

She doesn't need cows milk. My daughters pediatrician advised us to avoid it. My daughter has no allergies by the way. There are too many hormones/mucus etc in cows milk. She can get calcium naturally from fruits and veggies, and a good natural multivitamin. So much better for her than cows milk and tons better than SUGAR mixed in her milk to add strawberry flavor....best of luck.
My daughter is almost 3, and she, too, loved mamma's milk. She to this day refuses milk in any form- we tried whole milk, soy milk, rice milk, lactaid, pretty much anything that resembles milk. We tried chocolate, strawberry, vanilla- all of it. Warm, cold, mixed with breast milk- she would have none of it. Our ped said she should be fine if she eats a lot of yogurt, cheese, and other dairy. Oh- but she will drink smoothies made with milk and fruit! I just blend a bit of milk with frozen fruit, and she will drink that right up! And she will eat soups with a milk base. For my daughter, mamma's milk was replaced with water, and eventually watered-down juice. Oh- and a tip if you child loves yogurt and has constipation issues like mine- try Fiber One yogurt. It's a bit more expensive, but it keeps things moving along while giving your child a lot of calcium. It's not high-fat, but it has all the other benefits of yogurt. Good luck!
I have the same situation. So far the only way she'll take milk is if I mix it in her oatmeal cereal. I'm going to try re-introducing it again and again in her sippy cup, but still nurse her. BTW- I only give her organic whole fat milk from Heritage Farms. It tastes great!
all 3 of my kids took a while to drink cows milk. warming it a little seemed to help. also, try giving it when she 1st wakes up-hand it to er before taking her out of the crib-when she is hungry.
Try putting an ounce of white grape juice in it. That is what we did with dd and it worked. BM is sweet so it is a tough transition. It will also help her not to get constipated which happens in the switch at times.
Try chocolate milk. Trader Joe's has an organic chocolate syrup that we use. My daughter's never been a big cow's milk drinker, either. As long as your daughter is getting calcium from other food sources (yogurt, cheese, etc.) she should be fine. This is also the opinion of our pediatrician. Good luck!
