Washing Machine Help - Portland,ME

So we upgraded to HE machines. We went with a top loader because I found it easier for me, without an agitator. They're Samsungs.

I have read the manual several times, checked the website, and read some online Tips.

I find the clothes come out quite wrinkled. I have trouble-shooted. So I don't overstuff, I don't mix loads, and I am using right cycle and detergent.

One thing I read is that I could reduce the speed of spin cycle.

We're talking the pants come out so twisted up, we really have to shake them out.

There is a Wrinkle Release setting but I like to wash in cold and this setting doesn't seem to allow me to do that. The Wrinkle Release setting on dryer seems to involve steam (going to look into this a bit more).

Maybe I am missing something. I will call the 1-800 next ..

Thanks everyone

So What Happened?

Thanks for the feedback ladies!

So here's what has helped (I will pass along in case this works on other people's machines too):

1 - reduce the spin time (good idea) and at less speed. This was just a setting on my machine. They came out less twisted. Probably not as spun dry but I can live with that.
2 - dried on 'delicate' which has lower temperature on my machine. Didn't seem to 'set' the wrinkles in

I'm afraid the agitator-less machines are known for this.
The vibrating it does really compacts the clothes tightly and it seems to wrinkle things badly.

Can you try adding more water to it?

We have a fairly new top loader with an agitator - and while it has settings to add extra water - it doesn't fill right.
It worked fine for a year but now if left to it's own devices the clothes don't even get wet.
I so HATE automatic fill levels.

What we've done - since we have sink in the laundry room - is to attach a hose to the sink faucet and just use that to fill the washer with water to the level we desire.
I sometimes think putting a pot filler over the washer would be a great idea.

If I knew then what I know now (when we were shopping for new washer/dryer) -
I would have got a Speed Queen.

I have Samsung front loader HE.

The clothes are twisted a lot when the cycle is completed. For me, the longer the spin the more twisted.

It hasn't bothered me that much because it's typically towels, sheets, etc. I wash in cold water quick cycle.

My basic clothing such as jeans, etc are ok. I don't run any of my good clothing in the wash.. it's all dry cleaned.

I have a front load (and have for years). Obviously no agitator. I think it is a problem endemic to agitatorless washers. Without that rod to kind of break things up, the clothing gets twisted and tangled. I'm so used to shaking every single thing out that I forget I even do it!. Too many clothing AND too little clothing both make it worse. I use the 2nd to highest spin cycle since otherwise everything comes out dripping wet - and then takes hours to dry. I also mix my loads - not all jeans, not all towels, not all of any one thing. That seems to help.

The wrinkle release on my dryer isn't steam, it is an 18 minute cycle with a 10 min warm and an 8 min cool - I use it to fluff clothing I hang rather than dry (which is quite a few). Maybe the newer ones have steam - not sure if I would like that or not. I usually throw a damp towel in the wrinkle release to do probably the same thing steam would do.

It might just be a function of getting use to no agitator?

We have 2 washing machines and 2 dryers. My family laughs at me. However, with a family of 6? You can't spend all day washing, drying and folding, right?

Ours are the GE front loaders. I don't have many problems, but I do find that sheets tend to get wound up together in the dryer.

I don't have a problem with clothes being wrinkled, maybe because mine is a front loader?

We haven't "upgraded" just for this reason! I've got a girlfriend that when she does her sheets in the dryer? It turns into a "rock" and gets all bundled up.

I would call Samsung and tell them your problems! I hope it's an easy fix!

try a tennis ball or a washing machine ball inside the washer (you can use them in the dryer.)

my top loader has an agitator which is why i think i don't have this problem to a great degree.

but i dry my clothes that i'm going to iron on delicate with dryer balls, and they come out relatively normal.

Your clothes rotate more when there isn't an agitator. Welcome to the world of new technology.

My husbands long sleeve shirts come out in knots. I think putting more clothes in the washer helps keep them from twisting up so much but not overstuffing them.
