Walking in the Rain

You know what Roger Miller said, 'Some people walk in the rain, other people just get wet'.

I've always run around, and walked along the seawall with my children in drenching rain. It's actually a bit exhilarating.

I walk in the rain, and I actually prefer to run in the rain. I would take your son out and make it fun for him. As long as it is warm, raincoats are just uncomfortable, IMO.

Here's something my mother used to say "You won't melt!"

Oh my gosh.. RAIN.. We are in a terrible drought.. We celebrate rain.

When we are out and about we just run through it. I do have an amazing collection of underused beautiful and sometimes funny umbrellas, but very rarely do I ever Really need an umbrella to stay dry. Even when our daughter was little. I either carried her or we just held hands and ran from car to building.

I remember being at an outdoor cafe with my husband and it began to rain and EVERYBODY became silent and listened for a moment and then started clapping.. We all were clinking glasses.. It is just so celebrated down here.

I always allowed our daughter to play in the rain, with umbrellas and without. Barefoot any way she wanted.

She is now up Northeast for college where it rains so much she actually wore out a pair of rain boots..She said she loves the rain and opens her windows.. She also said she told her friends about how I (and our neighbors) used to let the kids play in the rain and that even we adults would run outside for rain many times.. Her friends told her "she was lucky," their parents never let them play in the rain..

I LOVE playing in the rain w/ my children... like running crazy during a down pour!!

I have rain coats w/ hoods for my children that have a nice soft lining (b/c we live in the cold) but in the summer time - I just have them run in their clothes and then drop them in the mud room prior to going up to put dry clothes on.

It's been super wet here all week too.

If it's warm and raining with no thunder and lightening, I LOVE playing in the rain, and I let the kids play in the rain as well :)

Once it gets cooler, I take my son to the mall and cut him loose, lots of my friends do this with their kiddos as well. It's more friendly than going to the museums around here!

My son used to love to walk and play in the rain when he was little, no harm there. When he was your son's age we used a water repellent all-in-1, like a snow suit, that kept him warm and his clothes dry. As he got a little older, say 3 or so, I'd put him in a raincoat with a hood and galoshes to keep his shoes dry, and he always had his face to the sky so he could get it wet : )

Personally, I don't like going to the mall or a store on rainy days, seems everyone's there to get out of the rain and they seem to be on edge, plus driving in the rain is the pits. And, I don't like taking little ones where I don't want to go, makes for a bad day.

I'm a huge believer in being outside: rain, snow or whatever (though I'm not a huge fan of extra humid -- it can really trigger my asthma). I've always found plastic covers or raincoats make it more uncomfortable.

For what it's worth, when my kids were little we'd be out whenever we could. I never told them they couldn't play in the rain. Now, years later, my youngest gets really excited when it rains and can't wait to get out in it -- and she's almost 18!

It rains here something like 300 days a year.

We go on walks the other month and a half (and drier mornings or afternoons) and do indoor things when it's raining (or drive above the snow line... we'll play in the snow in a heartbeat).
