Walking - Chicago,IL

My daughter was doing the same thing at this age. It took until she was about 13 mos. to master standing up and walking on her own. It sounds like your son is ahead of the game, some kids don't even start cruising around the furniture until way beyond 12 mos. I got my daughter an inexpensive push/walker type toy & that helped her to pull herself up from standing & walk while pushing the toy. It seems like they just do it when they feel steady enough. Boy.. once she got going she quickly went to running! I don't think you have any reason to be concerned. :)

My son is 14 months and he could walk along furniture or holding my hands or even with a push walking toy, he stands up on his own so steadily and will stay up for a while. The only thing is he will not walk on his own as soon as we try to let go he flies down to the floor in fear...I think that kids all have their own growing points and well he just isn't ready to walk on his own yet. I'm fine with that, seeing he has excelled in so many other area with things. When they are ready to go to the next step they will. Usually this happens on their own terms...Your son will be fine and find his own way soon enough.

It was probably a month after my daughter started walking, maybe a little longer, till she was comfortable enough I guess to stand up without something to assist. At one point she refused to use anything but me. That was a fun week.

He's probably going to start supporting himself very soon. My daughter just made 1 on the eleventh and she has been walking for about 2 months now. She just has been able to push herself up. Just let him figure it out on his own--before you know it, he'll be pushing up.
