Has anyone had a good experience with a vision doctor for kids? My step-son is 7 years old and just had his eyes tested at his pediatricians office & we were told he was probably going to need glasses, but to get them checked out thoroughly. He is dealthy afraid of anyone messing with his eyes, so I am looking for someone well experienced with children.
Thank you
J.

I like the Dr. (woman) at Modern Eyez on Golfcourse in Rio Rancho ###-###-####. I brought my 4 year old, and she was very kind and checked everything she was allowed for her age. They also have a great selection of character glasses for kids as well as nice other frames. It only took a day for my glasses to be ready. Check them out, I was pleased. Best of luck.
I agree with Amanda. Dr O'Neil at Pediatric Eye Specialists.

Dr. Lydia Banuelos and Dr. Sean McCafferty are both really great doctors.
Dr. Lydia Banuelos in Tucson was awesome with my little girl. I highly recommend her.
I also recommend Dr Lydia Banuelos. My daughter does really good with her.
I took my 3 yr old daughter to Sandia Vision Clinic for an eye test and they were wonderful with her. (We saw Dr. Chinisci, which is pronounced Kin-e-she.) I've been going to them for the past 4 years because they are so professional, courteous, and responsive. They're located at Eubank and Comanche. Good luck!

My daughter is five and has been wearing glasses for over a year. I don't know where you live, but we live in Las Cruces and drive her to El Paso to Dr. Violetta Radenovich. She's great! She only treats kids and she and her staff are great!
Well, this may be a bit different, but my daughter was not quite 1 1/2 years old when we had to take her for her first vision exam. She hated every minute of it - literally screamed like a wildcat the whole time. But it gets easier every time. She had surgery on her eyes before she was even two, wears glasses full-time and has to have check-ups every six weeks. Though your little guy is older and I'm sure his condition is not like my daughters is, my suggestion is that you prepare yourself mentally for the worst case and talk to everyone you know who may have taken a child locally to an eye doctor to find out who might be the best pediatric eye doctor to see. Do make sure you take him to a pediatric eye doctor, they are very familiar with the tactics to use to make kids much more at ease - and they are very patient with them as well as the parents! If you prepare for the worst you will probably be surprised and it may be easier than you thought! Good Luck to you and your step-son! If you are in Albuquerque area, I would suggest Dr. Todd Goldblum, he is fantastic!
My children see Dr. James O'Niel with Arizona Pediatric Eye Specialists and he is wonderful! They have 5 more doctors with their program, each one is a specialist, so if there is a problem, they can quickly and correctly diagnose your stepson. They have 8 locations in Mesa, Glendale, Gilbert, Scottsdale, Casa Grande, and three in Phoenix, so wherever you are, there should be one close. We go to his office in Mesa, and it is on the Banner Desert Medical Center campus. The APES phone number is ###-###-#### or their website is www.EyeCareAZ.com Good luck and I hope this helped!
