I'd have to say that if a midwifery group advises you that you should not have a vaginal birth, you should take that pretty seriously. Midvives are usually very supportive of natural birth so I would listen to them.
And I do agree that ICAN can help you get a second opinion from a VBAC friendly MD who can tell you if you are/are not a candidate.
I am TTC #2 and my OB/GYN told me that I can attempt a VBAC if she has a report of my c-section surgery to review and "if all the stars align" i.e. I dialate to 10, the baby is doing well, etc.
So there are docs out there who support VBACs!
